Briston is large village located within North Norfolk just four miles inland from the Georgian town of Holt. There is a pub, two shops, a bakery and a butchers. It’s a great location from which to explore all North Norfolk has to offer. Holt has a lovely range of local shops, a small independent supermarket together with plenty of tea rooms or restaurants offering locally sourced produce. Catch a steam or diesel train along the Poppyline, a coastal track which visits Weybourne and Sheringham. Many of the most wonderful beaches are within a short drive of Muntjac Barn, go to Wells-next the-Sea and walk along the Quay or visit the vast sandy beach. The popular seaside towns of Sheringham and Cromer make for a great day out for all the family, each having a golf course too! Salthouse and Cley-next-the-Sea are great bird watching locations, you will be spoilt for choice with so many places to discover.

Reviews

As mentioned already, the property is stunning. You can even see the bird-life from the rooms themselves in the artificially created wetlands area, which looks so natural. The children can feed them perfectly safely from the patio. Previous properties where we have stayed include a barbecue, which is usually unusable, but here there is a large clean efficient gas barbecue (and a great butchers in Briston!). You will not be disappointed if you book this property.

Mr Ian P,

We've been holidaying as a family for one week a year for 25 years and this is probably the best we've stayed in!

Mrs Janine T,

Muntjac Barn has everything you could ever want in a holiday let. A lovely setting and attention to detail is second to none. A superb stay.

Mrs Tracey R,

This is a high quality excellent property. Kitchen very modern, with all appliances and cookware needed. Beds and bedding were very good. Owners very nice and they also left a welcome pack including a home made cake, loaf of bread, , quality jam, butter, bottle of wine, bottle of bubbly, milk, coffee, tea. In most bedrooms they provided slippers and shower caps. They also provided quality towels. The owners also gave us duck food for the ducks on the nearby pond. There is an excellent games room with Table Tennis, Air Hockey, Billiards and Table Football. There is also a very good childrens play area.

Mr Peter L,

A wonderful stay in an amazing house. Plenty of room for everyone, even 3 energetic little ones. They loved (as we did) the games room and the playground. The problem was getting them out of here! The kids loved feeding the ducks and watching mum and chicks. Brilliantly euipped and clean. Spoilt now for any other self-catering houses.

Peter L,

It is an excellent choice for families in particular - the house gives access to a play barn and play area, plus ducks to feed . We also really liked the spacious communal area which is so often lacking in houses for large groups

Mrs Willis F,

Perfect location and exactly what we had hoped for. Felt like a home from home and enjoyed a great family holiday. Thank you for allowing us to arrive a little early ad for the welcome pack, with fabulous sponge and more. Sorry to leave but hope to come back soon. 10 out of 10 from us.

Jonathan T,

Rachael and Tim are a wonderful team who care deeply about their visitors and are very welcoming. The welcome pack is top class as indeed is the property, nothing left to chance, we loved seeing the lamb triplets on our return from Blickling Hall what a lovely surprise to see them in the meadow, we even managed to make use of the "sports hall".It was declared one of the best by the rest of the "girls"

Mrs Elaine W,

Retired nurses trained together in Sheffield 1963-66, friends ever since, meet for a long weekend get together every year. We could not have wished for a better place. Beautiful barn, wonderfully comfortable, welcome pack thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed. Thanks to the owners for all their hard work.

Elaine W,

Cannot praise it enough, we did not want to leave. Have already pre-booked for next year.

Mrs Margaret W,

Lovely stay, explored local childrens attractions. The cake and goodies were well appreciated. Great facilities and nice and clean.

Jackie P,

Thank you for a most fabulous week. Accommodation is fantastic. Had such a brilliant week. Fantastic games area for the kids and adults. Fabulous location to visit different beaches, shops and pubs.

Lionel M,

We came away to celebrate Grandpa's 65th Birthday and we and an amazing time. The Barn was perfect - comfortable, well appointed with everything you need and more. Possibly the best self-catering accommodation we have ever rented! Delicious Victoria Sandwich cake on arrival, tea, coffee etc to start us off, tulips on the table and Prosecco in the fridge! What more could you ask for?

Martin G,

Fabulous weekend had by all away from th husbands and kids! The Barn is perfect, everything we could have hoped for!

Zoe A,

I visited Muntjac Barn as a group of 10 to celebrate two birthdays and the set up of the house was absolutely perfect for a gathering of friends - all the rooms are lovely, clean and bright and each with its own modern en suite. The house itself and the interior design is beautiful, the log burner was absolutely lovely to use on a chilly feb weekend. There is large lake out the back in which two very friendly, chatty ducks live, we also saw a swan and a deer! The kitchen had everything we could need and more which was perfect for cooking fry ups and roasts for 10! The games room in the barn opposite was so much fun and we wished we had longer there to use it! The welcome pack from the owners was so thoughtful and above standard - cake and Prosecco included!!! Their helpfulness throughout our stay was also greatly appreciated. I would recommend this property to everyone, myself and friends already want to come back and are discussing an annual trip! Thanks so much for a fab long weekend! From the Essex crew - Ford, Crawley and friends!

Emily F,

A fantastic property, very modern and kitted out very well for a holiday home. The views out onto the lake are lovely, and the games room and play area were also great.

Mr Rhys M,

Had a great time over Christmas - a brilliant place to stay - comfortable and relaxing. With family joining us from Australia, France, Indonesia and the UK it was a lovely place to be together for the first time in 27 years. The mince pies were lovely!

Jonathan W,

It was beautifully equipped and the layout was ideal for a family group. We loved staying here. Rooms were comfortable and the beds were perfect. We all slept soundly. The lake out the back was good to sit by and watch the wildlife. I have no complaints at all. We thoroughly enjoyed the games room facilities too - a nice touch. Sitting round the log burner, family around us in a fantastic place, where the host had put a lot of thought into making their guests at home. Really lovely place.

Miss K J,

Perfect place to spend time with friends and catch up. Very cozy by he fire with a glass of fizz. Had a lovely meal at The Pigs and a nice walk at Holkham Bay. Owner was very accommodating.

The Rennie Party,

We had a wonderful time celebrating the return of Jodie after her time in Australia. Beautiful house - thank you!

The Cann Party,

Faultless! Beautifully done and furnished. Kitchen the best stocked I've ever experienced. Everything we needed was there. Beds comfortable. Good, large bbq.

Mrs Jane B,

More Girls on tour in Norfolk! Lovely place, beautiful setting. Loved the pond and duck. Welcome pack much appreciated.

The Newby Party,

Girls on tour in Norfolk, beautiful setting, very well equipped, stunning property. Couldn't ask for more.

The Ellis Party,

We have had a fun few days here. Plenty to do and loads of space to do it - for 'townies' its been great...ducks, herons, buzzards etc. We have enjoyed the seal trip and wandering the streets of Cromer, Wells and Sheringham, Thanks Tim and Rachel - its been great.

The Allen Party,

Thank you for the excellent accommodation which helped us have a lovely holiday. We are a family of four generations and had plenty of space at the house for relaxation and recreation. The rooms were very comfortable and well kept. We will all miss the ducks - particularly the children! Thank you again - we would return!

The Welsh Family,

Keeping up with tradition, we too are a group of 3 generations! We have loved our week here in the barn. The bedrooms are great with comfy beds and stylish en-suites. Loved the little extra touches too; Pimms, cake and slippers. Our 3, 4 and 18 month old have had great fun in the garden, games room and play area. The pond is such a great feature. All of us have enjoyed gazing out and watching all the wildlife. The kids refer to the ducks as 'our ducks' now. We can recommend Bewilderwood and Roarr for family adventures and found the leaflets on the noticeboard useful. Thanks to Tim and family for such a great holiday home. We have had a brilliant week.

The Woods Family,

Another family group of 3 generations and we all loved the accommodation. Excellent fun in the games barn as we are a very competitive family! Very well equipped house, all bedrooms being en-suite a definite bonus. The welcoming extras were really appreciated. The pond was beautiful to watch but safely out of reach of an adventurous 5 year old. A most enjoyable week!

The Martin Family,

We came together as a family to celebrate Pappa's 70th birthday. Thank you! We loved it all. House is gorgeous and we all enjoyed the Victoria sponge cake and Pimms! Thank you for all the attention. We would love to come back again! P.S. It was lovely to observe the pond life.

The Williams Family,

We've had a wonderful holiday. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, as 3 generations, celebrating a 60th birthday. Comfortable, well equipped and love the en-suite accommodation! Excellent to have the games room and play area for the children. Great decor and stylish throughout. Hours of fun watching the wildlife on the pond and great location for all North Norfolk beaches/attractions. Thank you so much to Tim and family - we will stay again!! xxx
