Next door you’ll find Wells-Next-the-Sea, another coastal village with delightful delicatessens and some great accommodation, a quay to wander down and a family-friendly beach great for building sandcastles and splashing amongst the waves. During the summer months when you’re not lounging on Holkham sands, it’s possible to get a ferry across to the offshore barrier west of Holkham, Scolt Head Island, for exploration. Creake Abbey lies just outside of the region and is another excellent walkers’ spot with local café, while during the festive season an immensely popular event takes place 10 miles from Holkham, the Thursford Christmas Spectacular.
