Property code: OC-1938

Whisk your loved one away for a luxurious stay in a unique holiday home on the Holkham Estate in North Norfolk. This delightful retreat is set within one of the prestigious park’s gatehouses and offers sumptuous, one-bedroom accommodation for just two guests. Also happy to accommodate canine companions, the Grade II-listed hideaway has been exquisitely finished to provide characterful and stylish accommodation, with a wood burner for cosy winter evenings in and a glass atrium for star gazing on clear nights.

Let yourselves into this unusual cottage to discover an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with a vaulted ceiling and exposed brickwork, at ground-floor level. Stoke up the wood burner, find a film on the Smart TV. Follow the stairs down into the building’s former vaults to find a gorgeous super-king-size bedroom, a snug, with TV, and a chic bathroom, plus a shower room. The atrium is also at this level. Sit outside in your lawned garden on fine days or take a long walk through the stately home’s scenic grounds to see if you can spot its herds of deer. There is parking for one car with this property.

Visit the hall, as well as the nature reserve, which is just over 2 miles from your base, during your stay. Holkham Beach, famous for appearing as a backdrop to scenes in many movies, is about 2.5 miles away. Venture 1.5 miles into Wells-next-the-Sea to go shopping, dine out and head down to its beach, which is a further 1 mile out of town. In Wells, you can also catch a train along the narrow-gauge, heritage railway to Little Walsingham, a popular place to visit for its abbey and shrine.

The lodge was perfect for us and beat the description on the web site and our expectations'. A lovely quiet spot, buried in the heart of the wood. We had the grounds , the house to explore, and the walled garden was beautiful, and huge! The staff are unfailingly warm, friendly and professional. We will be going back.

A lovely cosy lodge, very quirky and in a fabulous location particularly if you enjoy walking. All very comfortable and kitchen well equipped. Wi-Fi worked well. We didnt use the log burner, however plenty of logs were supplied if we had wanted to. Goodies on arrival were very much appreciated. Palmers lodge is quirky and in a quiet area of the Holkham estate, although theres no private garden our dog was ok off the lead outside the lodge by the table and benches. We spotted deers on a daily basis, just magical and so peaceful. Upstairs is lovely, we were even a bit gutted it was so hot as we didnt get chance to use the log burner! Beautiful property. My husband thought that the kitchen was short on equipment, but cooking is one of his hobbies so I think most nrmal people would have been happy. The lighting in the living room was a bit dim. Having an additional light in the kitchen area might help

We stayed in South Lodge East last year and had such a wonderful time that we couldnt wait to come back. The estate is as amazing as we remembered but Palmers Lodge was a big disappointment. The downstairs of the property was cold and damp in spite of putting the heating on. The bathrooms were grubby and cold. There were spiders and bugs everywhereRead more. Our clothing smelled of damp. We were basically very uncomfortable -even the bed seemed damp. The welcome pack would have been more useful if it included a small loaf of bread and a pint of milk. I expected much more comfort from this property and I do not think it is good value for money. Hide

If you need peace and quiet Palmers Lodge is perfect, just deer, pheasants and rabbits for company. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay with great walks along the beach from Wells to Holkam. Our stay was in early March so still a nip in the air but on returning to the Lodge and the wood burner roaring away you couldn't ask for more. Lovely welcoRead moreming bag with lots of local produce and a bottle of Prosecco and two glasses waiting on the coffee table. Downstairs is an unusual subterranean set up but it works well and there is plenty of natural light via the glass roof above the hall section. Hide
