Sitting right on the shore of a secluded lake, this charming cedar lodge on the Norfolk/Suffolk border is a wonderful spot for a holiday alone or with your other half. After all, what could be more soothing than waking up to soothing watery views each day? You’ll also be surrounded by the open countryside, making it feel wonderfully private and restful, yet just 3 miles from the nearest pub and shop in the market town of Harleston.
Inside this striking wooden home feature is an open-plan living space bringing together a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and inviting lounge. After busy days exploring, unwind in front of the Smart TV with DVD. Just beyond is the super-king-size bedroom, complete with French doors opening onto the lakeside deck. The adjoining bathroom has a freestanding stone bath, generous walk-in shower and WC, plus its own French doors leading to a second decked area. Outside, enjoy al fresco meals on the patio furniture, fish for roach, tench, perch, pike and carp directly from the lodge’s private deck. For a touch of indulgence, you can sink into the sunken hot tub and warm up in the private sauna at the water’s edge. Private parking for two cars is available.
When it’s time to explore, at the 100th Bomb Group Memorial Museum (4 miles) you can discover the story of the American air forces stationed in the area during WW2. While away a few hours wandering around the market town of Diss and its lakeside Mere (8 miles) or combine steam trains with attractive planted grounds at Bressingham Steam and Gardens (12.5 miles). Framlingham Castle (11 miles), a striking Tudor stronghold with wide views across the Suffolk landscape, is well worth the visit.
