Wake up and cast a line from your private deck straight into the stocked lake, and then head to Bressingham Steam and Gardens to take a ride behind a working heritage steam locomotive through the magnificent gardens. In the evening, treat yourself to a session in the private barrel sauna and then slip into the hot tub on the deck as the evening light fades across the water.

Pull up in your private parking spot (there’s room for two cars) and step inside this handsome cedar lodge, where wide windows fill the sleek and stylish open-plan living area with natural light and outstanding lake views. Cook up a feast in the chic kitchen and share it at the dining table, or carry it outside to the lakeside front deck to dine alfresco by the water. Afterwards, make your way onto the private deck off the bedroom to take a dip in the hot tub, or head back indoors to sink into the sofa in front of the Smart TV. When the day is done, retire to the super-king-size bedroom for a great night’s sleep. The en-suite bathroom is exceptional, with a beautiful freestanding stone bath at its centre, along with a walk-in shower. In the morning, wakeup and head straight out of the bedroom onto the private deck.

Head off to the 100th Bomb Group Memorial Museum (4 miles) to explore the moving story of the American airmen who flew from this Suffolk airfield during World War II, or make your way to Bressingham Steam and Gardens (10 miles) to take a ride behind a working heritage steam locomotive. Alternatively, head to Framlingham Castle (11 miles), which is one of medieval England's finest baronial fortresses.
