One of the region’s finest and most recognisable Palladian country houses and the ancestral home of the Coke family for more than 400 years. The grounds are ideal for cycling and feature many themed walks and trails, with bike hire available close to the courtyard, restaurant and gift shop. You can even take to the water on the lake during the warmer months of the year. Just outside the walls of Holkham Park is Lady Anne’s Drive which leads down to the wide-sweeping sands and big skies of the dog friendly beach, bordered by pine woods. You will also find yourself spoilt for choice when looking to eat out. The Victoria Inn in the Holkham village serves fantastic local, seasonal cuisine from dawn to dusk, whilst lunch can also be enjoyed at the Hall’s Courtyard Cafe or the Beach Cafe slightly further afield in Wells-next-the-Sea. Wells-next-the-Sea is a charming coastal town with its iconic beach huts and picturesque harbour where you can enjoy fresh shellfish or the catch of the day. Other delights nearby are Burnham Market and its sister villages, Brancaster, Cley-next-the-Sea and the town of Holt to name just a few.

Reviews

Told property didn’t have Wi-Fi or fridge and it had both. Glass in toilet door very unnecessary, needs changing to a solid door. Bigger door mat when you come in would be handy to try and capture most of what’s on your shoes as you enter, as this just ends up all around the bed area after day or two. Hangi g space would have also been handy. Other than that it was very nice.

Mr Gideon W,

The cottage was in a perfect location and we were delighted with our choice. The goody bag was a nice touch but we would have preferred basics like milk, bread and butter as there are no shops in the immediate surroundings and frustrating if you arrive late. One loo roll (poor quality) was not enough for 3 nights. We had to wash our dishes outside as the shower and loo areas are tiny and this isn't clearly explained on your website. The mattress cover was stained and needs replacing. Communication was good getting to the cottage and it was easy to access when we arrived.

Mrs Sue G,

generally the facilities to wash plates and glasses were not sufficient seats were ok but sofa would have been better and large table took up too much room in a limited space

Mrs Anne H,

The cottage was very well appointed and the description of the facilities (including the lack of sink) was accurate. Actually, the description undersold it slightly, as it didn't make clear that the cottage has wifi. The standard of furnishings was excellent and the property manager was very helpful. The welcome hamper, with its range of local products, was a lovely touch. It's a beautiful location, in a remote corner of the Holkham site. It actually felt like a luxury hotel room, transplanted into a woodland setting. We will definitely return to try another of the properties at Holkham.

Mrs Ruth N,

What a lovely stay! There is something quite magical about staying on the Holkham Estate. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves the North Norfolk Coast and the estate itself.

Mrs P,

Wonderful location for a nature filled holiday.

Ms G,

If you're looking for a peaceful break in a beautiful setting you won't be disappointed. Holkham Hall itself is a bonus as is the nearby beach and Wells Town.

Mr G,

Palmers Folly located on the Holkham estate was a perfect setting for a very quiet break surrounded by woods, parklands and wildlife. Also very close to the stunning North Norfolk coast and numerous country parks - perfect for a quiet reflective break,

Mr T,

Very clean and cosy property. Wonderful quiet location.

Prof S,

Wonderful location extremely peaceful.

Mrs B,

We loved this little luxurious hideaway in the woods…perfect for dog walking and nature spotting. The Victoria is also amazing and we booked twice. We can’t wait to come back!

Mrs B,

Beautifully decorated and furnished room in a peaceful setting on the stunning Holkham Estate. Lovely surprise to see the Christmas tree in there too and a lovely wreath on the door. Has everything you need for a short stay - we loved it!

Mrs R,

This is a beautiful property in an outstanding location, with so much wildlife to enjoy. The most stunning scenery and had the most amazing break. The welcome hamper was a real treat too!

Mrs P,

Great location for a few nights away from it all but within reach of a decent restaurant, the beach and Wells.

Mr P,

Quality period property, perfect location, welcome pack very nice. Everything you could want for a few days getaway from it all.

Mr N,
