Bring your other half to this rustic retreat that takes you back to basics on a glamping complex along North Norfolk’s coast. Immerse yourself in nature and do as much or as little as you want. With Heacham Beach only 200 metres away, it’s not a major outing but might still be the highlight of your stay. Cook on your fire pit at night, or just sit stargazing under the wide East Anglian skies pondering the universe. Norfolk Lavender is just 2 miles away; with more than 50 types of the purple stuff, it houses the national collection across acres of fragranced fields. There are other herbs too, as well as a tearoom. Hop along the renowned Norfolk coastline, stopping off at Hunstanton (3.5 miles), Brancaster Beach (11 miles) and Holkham (20 miles), famed for its stately home and huge open swathes of golden sand backed by rolling dunes.
This locally handmade shepherd’s hut is slightly raised up off the ground via steps to the stable door entrance. It’s bijou and simple, but incredibly cosy with a dresser and seating area, kitchenette and a comfortable double bed at the far end. The clapboard-style walls are well insulated to keep things welcoming, whatever the weather. It also has various windows to let in light and air. It’s glamping but with all mod cons, including lighting, electric sockets and useful USB ports.
Each hut has its own patio area with deck chairs and a fire pit, plus use of the glampers’ kitchen on-site. You’ll have a private shower and WC close to each hut. As well as your private area directly outside this shepherd’s hut, the property is on a complex of other similar glamping units, meaning the surrounding grounds are shared. There’s private parking for one car.
