Thornham is a quiet picturesque village that forms part of the conservation area on the North West Norfolk Coast. There is a wide sandy beach and a small harbour, both of which form part of a local nature reserve. There are some excellent pub/restaurants in the village one of which has won an award in 2010. At the most westerly point of the village is Drove Orchards. A treasure trove of shops and eateries, including farm shop, boutiques, fishmongers, Eric's fish and chips and Shucks at the Yurt. The coastal town of Hunstanton is just four miles away, it has a sandy beach and many attractions for children. The Coast Hopper bus can take you to Wells, the RSPB reserve at Titchwell and villages including Brancaster and Burnham Market, an excellent opportunity to leave the car behind and enjoy the scenery.

Returning to Captains Cottage after a break of a couple of years felt like coming home. The space and layout of this 'upside down' house make it perfect for a large family group and particularly good for lively young children. In a week of blue skies and sunshine we were drawn again and again to the amazing views across the fields to the sand and sea. Spotting a barn owl at dusk was also a highlight. The Thompson & Walker families Mrs Frances Thompson - 19th February 2018
We absolutely loved the cottage, found it to be very comfortable and warm. Would definitely look forward to staying again. Lovely and straightforward from booking, paying balance and being met by a charming man who showed us around and explained how everything worked before he left. Very impressive company, would definitely book with you again. Mrs Lorraine Littlewort - 5th December 2017

Very impressive from booking to arrival and leaving.Mrs E Scerri - 27th July 2015
Captain's Cottage is a great base for a three generation family holiday. We loved the space and the way that the kitchen/dining and sitting rooms were adjacent to one another and a real hub for catching up with one another, even when cooking. The views across the marshes to the sea are stunning and in a week of sun and clear skies, were a constant talking point. The verandah was also great for stargazing.Mrs Thompson - 1st March 2014
The House was everything and more than we expected, Captain's is one of the best equipped and comfortable cottages we have stayed in. It is in a superb position for bird watching, coastal lovers and walkers. The Hulme Family - 2nd July 2011

Fantastic time in this lovely house, well equipped and always warm.Mrs Key - 13th November 2009
What a fantastic house in the most ideal location. We have had a brilliant few days and a much needed relaxing break. The house is perfect and the scenery delightful. Food at the Orange Tree was incredible as was the more traditional pub food at The Lifeboat. We have enjoyed early morning birdwatching walks and afternoon strolls along the beach at Weybourne, Old Hunstanton and Brancaster. The Horstead Family - 22nd October 2009
