A unique place to stay, in an enchanting setting, Snettisham Water Mill is a grade 11* listed water mill built in 1800 for the princely sum of £800! Built by the community when bread was scarce, you can get a real sense of the history of the mill from the internal windows showing the workings of the mill rooms. As you arrive, you can hear the sluice race rushing water from the top lake of the River Ingol and admire the setting with over one acre of grounds, which include a lakeside garden and a small area of ancient woodland, accessed by the little footbridge. The accommodation is upside down, with bedrooms and shower rooms on the ground floor and living space on the first floor, which captures the view across the lake and woodlands so well. Snettisham village is a popular spot and offers a variety of shops including a supermarket, chemist and a chip shop located at Snettisham Beach. There are award winning places to eat and drink too, the Rose & Crown and The Old Bank; soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the fayre. For bird enthusiasts, the area, much of which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, has two dedicated bird reserves at Titchwell and Snettisham itself and the beaches at Heacham, Hunstanton, Brancaster and Thornham are all within easy reach. Farm shops abound in the area and make a special stop at Norfolk Lavendar in the next-door village of Heacham. The Queen’s estate at Sandringham is a popular day out and just a short drive; visit the amazing gardens, open seasonally, or one of the outdoor events with Game & Country Fayres, Food & Drink stands or the iconic Flower Show often frequented by the Royals!

Loved it. We stayed here for 3 nights to visit the Sandringham lights and to do the newish Sandringham parkrun, then had a few days left for exploring. The mill was in a perfect location for Sandringham, and we managed the Snettisham round walk - good footwear essential and we made use of the outside hose afterwards! Also cycled to Hunstanton. The mill itself was fab, The upstairs room was big and open plan which suited us. We also liked the window to look into the old mill. A prefect old interesting place for relaxing for a few days.

Mrs P,

We had a lovely stay at Snettisham Water Mill. The Mill is very comfortable. Good access to several beaches nearby and Sandringham Estate.
