Wells-next-the-Sea is a lively coastal town on the north Norfolk coast. With its fine, sandy beach, iconic beach huts and bordered by pine woodlands, it offers a playground for young and old alike, there is even a small gauge railway that will take you down to the beach if you don’t fancy the stroll. At the harbour you can see the small fishing fleet unload its daily catch and the quayside is also popular with children, fishing for crabs. There is an eclectic variety of boutique shops, cafés, pubs and tea rooms to browse, with not a chain store in sight and The Buttlands is a lovely part of the town with a tree-lined Green, fine Georgian houses, pubs and restaurant. Fishing trips, sailing, tennis, a swimming pool and fitness centre and the Wells to Walsingham Light Railway are all within easy reach and for something totally unique, why not take an Alpaca for a walk across the marshes! Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and with the North Norfolk Coastal path running directly through the town, you may not wish to wander far. If you do, other delights near to hand include Holkham Hall and Estate, Burnham Market and its sister villages and gorgeous coastal villages such as Brancaster, Cley-next-the-Sea and Stiffkey, to name just a few.

Reviews

Thoroughly enjoyable stay in the cottage. Plenty to do around Wells. Plenty of places to eat, if you want to try The Crab House - book early

Christopher L,

We really enjoyed our stay in this cosy cottage. Very warm and comfortable and a great location for the coastal path (great for morning/evening running) and the shops. We really enjoyed all the beaches and searching for mammoths at West Runton and catching fallen leaves at Holkham Hall. So much to do around here - we could have stayed for two weeks !

Jenny M,

Nice week in a well equipped cottage, ideally situated in a lovely little town. Weather was good too !

Andrew E,

We liked it here and had fun on the beach. We went to see the seals and did crabbing . We caught 32 crabs and some shrimps. We went to Bewilderwood. Thank you

Claire W,

Lovely cottage in a great location, had a great week. Would recommend French's Fish & Chips, The Golden Fleece and Wells ice cream. Thank you, would love to come back !

Robert T,

Thank you for a lovely week at Samphire Cottage. We loved staying in Wells and the cottage location is perfect for that. Recommend BANG for breakfasts & we had a good meal at both The Golden Fleece & Sands. Have a great season, thank you.

Jane T,

We had a delightful stay at Samphire Cottage this Easter holiday. It's a delightfully cosy place to return to after a day out and about. So wonderfully located that we didn't get in the car at all ! We would love to come back sometime soon as we have relaxed and the kids have loved it too ! Thank you !

Samantha T,

An excellent property; spacious and modern. In the heart of the town - everything is within a 5 minute walk - but far enough away from the main areas to avoid any noise. Private parking is a real boon (must be a nightmare for properties without parking in the height of the season!)

Mr Gerald P,
