A charming country cottage enveloped by a lush tropical garden and ideally situated for exploring the rugged Norfolk coast. Nestled behind a row of cottages in the sleepy village of Stiffkey, this romantic bolthole is the perfect escape for couples and their waggy-tailed third wheel. Inhale the salty ocean air as you seal spot from Blakeney Point (2.5 miles), then swirl a glass of chilled wine and pick through a snack board perched on the leafy patio.

This compact property boasts a tastefully styled interior with rich colours, plush fabrics, and traditional country house detailing. Ease out of muddy boots at the door then pad into the inviting lounge/diner. Tend to the crackling wood burner then sink amongst the plump cushions on the sofa. Browse the bookshelf for a holiday read or snuggle up with a film. Step beneath the archway into the shaker kitchen to brew a round of teas overlooking the garden. Take a relaxing rinse in the shower before turning in for the night. Slip into the cool sheets of the double bedroom decorated in calming white tones. Throw open the French doors to enjoy breakfast outside surrounded by mature shrubs and flowers.

Saunter barefoot alongside the colourful beach huts lining the shoreline of Wells-next-the-Sea Beach (5 miles) then tuck into an unbeatably fresh seafood platter at the Wells Crab House (4 miles). Admire the 13th Century monastic ruins of Binham Priory (3.5 miles) or peruse the selection of independent shops and cafes in the Georgian market town of Holt (9 miles).

We found the location of the cottage delightfully hidden away behind others and, therefore, so secure and private. It was amazing to see all the facilities and equipment fitted so efficiently into the cottage spaces.

Compact but comfortable. A very quiet location with very friendly neighbours. The nearby Red Lion is excellent for meals and drinks. Some folks commented on access. You do not have to be Dr Livingstone to find it. We will be returning soon.

Access might be a problem, bit of a trail around other cottages, if I had realised I wouldn't have taken my easily triggered dog. Pretty area, lovely walks.

We had a lovely stay in Poppy Cottage (July 2024). The cottage has everything you need for a simple stay in beautiful North Norfolk. 5 mins walk to the saltmarsh and endless walks, 10 mins drive from The Norfolk Bottle-shop (beer and weekend pizzas)- def recommend ..... too many places to mention here the Redlion Pub is a must- Sunday lunch was Read moregreat- their midweek menu is good too- v popular The only thing to mention really is the access- this is mentioned in other reviews too- walking past the terrace cottages, 3 gates..... gets to be a bit cumbersome with luggage, shopping etc. our dog also grew to dislike the gravel (old diva greyhound) Everyone staying in the other cottages was lovely and friendly and didn't seem to mind. The lady who lives in the cottage who owns the beautiful courtyard was a great neighbour offering it to us to use, her lovely dog Inkey was super friendly and came to visit often. We had a very relaxed calm stay- just what we needed Hide
