Salthouse is an unspoilt conservation village situated on the North Norfolk Coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village is well represented with the award winning Cookies Crabshop serving local seafood and produce as well as the Dun Cow pub. It is an ideal location for exploring the diverse coastline, from the popular resorts of Sheringham and Cromer to the picturesque villages of Cley-next-the-Sea and Blakeney, all of which are within a few miles and can be accessed via the ever-popular Coast Hopper bus service if you don’t want to take the car. The nearby glorious sandy beaches at Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham are wide, spacious and backed by pine woods and don’t miss a visit to Holkham Hall and deer park, home to the Earl of Leicester. The area is a year-round haven for ornithologists, walkers and nature lovers, with many bird reserves, good fishing and excellent walks close by. Enjoy a boat trip to north Norfolk’s seal colonies from either Blakeney or Morston quays or hire a dingy for some local sailing adventures of your own. There is much to do here and once discovered you will surely want to return.
Idea location and good pub down the lane. Plenty of room and good to have the courtyard for BBQ's. Should make mention of the little football area by the church which the grandchildren loved.
The property is light and airy. It has a fully enclosed courtyard so children and dogs are safe. The accommodation is all on one level so that saves all the carrying luggage upstairs which is great with a large family. There are two lounges with tv in each and so kids and adults can get bit of separate time to relax. Large pantry and utility was great. Good village store. Best to book well in advance for food at the Dun Cow
The property was very well equipped for the whole family and the dog. Salt house was a quiet, peaceful location with a fantastic local store with fresh produce and lots of goodies to choose from sourced from the local area. The property provided space for everyone, with a comfortable lounge, courtyard and kitchen/ dining space. A wonderful property to explore the area from and walking distance to the beach.
We spent a glorious week at Comfus Bottom in July. The accommodation was absolutely perfect for us - lots of space for everyone, an annexe for the grandparents, a lovely enclosed courtyard with seating and BBQ (also perfect for pets as no exit routes), and parking for two cars easily. The accommodation was well equipped and the kitchen a joy to cook in. The village of Salthouse is amazing, and we had lovely walks on the beach, visits to the fabulous Dun Cow Pub for food and drinks, dressed crab from the crab shack and plenty of goodies and necessities from the very well appointed village shop. We visited Holkham Hall and beach, Wells, Sheringham and the nearby villages and really loved coming back to the house at the end of a busy day and relaxing.
