  • Flexible sleeping options are ideal for a stay with friends or family

Property code: OC-1732

Tucked deep in the Norfolk countryside in a landscape that has remained unchanged for centuries, rich in endless walking trails, this light and bright barn conversion is as characterful and cosy as they come, retaining much of its original features, just moments from the sandy beaches of the incomparable Norfolk coastline.

High vaulted ceilings, exposed brickwork and timber frames, a soothing neutral colour, a wood burner and underfloor heating create a wonderfully warm atmosphere in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner which beckons you to unwind weary walking muscles on the plush sofa, rustle up a family feast in the contemporary farmhouse-style kitchen and make special memories over dinner seated around the rustic dining table. As day turns to night, follow the warmth of the underfloor heating beneath the original brick floor to retire to either of the two beautifully serene en-suite bedrooms, featuring the same rustic décor and soothing colour palette as the rest of the barn, for a peaceful rest before tomorrow’s adventure. Admire some stunning sunsets melting over the rolling hillsides as you dine alfresco long into the evening in the enclosed courtyard.

Lying in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the charming village of Langham retains much of its historic character from its listed architecture and is the perfect base to explore the fabulous Norfolk coastline. Head to Blakeney (2 miles) to jump aboard a boat trip to Blakeney Point to spot the resident seal colonies, enjoy a traditional Victorian day at the seaside at Cromer (15 miles) or spot a variety of wildlife at the world-renowned birdwatching centre at Cley-next-the-Sea 3.5 miles away. Venture inland to discover the independent boutiques and art galleries of the Georgian town of Holt (5.5 miles) before hopping on the local steam railway for a coastal journey to Sheringham 10.5 miles away.

David's Barn is a great place to stay in! The kitchen/diner is fully equipped while the open plan arrangement with the living area is nicely designed and works well. We used only the main bedroom and the bed there is both large and really comfortable. The high ceilings in the property together with the many windows give both a light and very airy fRead moreeeling. The main en-suite has a bath with shower over while the second en-suite has a walk-in shower: both showers are very effective with a plentiful supply of hot water. Outside space is limited but does offer a small sitting area with a table and four chairs. There is allocated parking space for both David's Barn and the adjoining Simon's Barn. This is the third time the two of us have stayed in David's Barn as it is well-located as a place from which to explore north Norfolk. Hide

Description didn't mention the barn is right next to the church, and the bells ring every 15 minutes, throughout the night too|!

The property is opposite the church which has a clock that strikes every quarter hour. This means that it is unfeasible to open any window at night. Property issues: 1) toilet in first bedroom is loose. 2) window catch does not engage in first bedroom 3) casement stay in second bedroom does not locate on lugs 4) there is a smell of heating oil/diRead moreesel emanating from an access door in second bedroom 5) the wine cooler is very noisy - we switched it off at night 6) a lot of the kitchen unit doors were delaminating 7) the bin is located away from the food prep area - not particularly useful. The beds were comfy and the showers powerful, and the overall look of the place was quite pleasing. Hide
