Gunthorpe is a small quiet, pretty village just a stone’s throw from the beautiful market town of Holt, a haven for retail therapy full of independent boutiques shops, cafes and galleries. Clare Cottage is six miles from the beautiful North Norfolk Coast, go on a seal trip from Blakeney Quay or visit the Norfolk Wildlife Trusts’ Cley Marshes Reserve for some brilliant bird watching. There are some stunningly beautiful beaches here too, try out Holkham or Wells-next-the-Sea, with their vast sandy spaces backed by dunes and pinewoods. Along the coast there are excellent pubs and restaurants who specialize in serving locally sourced food; needless to say there is super seafood, Brancaster Mussels and Cromer Crabs to name but a few. The historic cathedral city of Norwich makes a great day out; here you will find a huge selection of independent shops, theatres, museums and restaurants. Enjoy family days out at Pensthope Natural Park just a few miles away and seek out the children’s indoor and outdoor adventure play areas, lakes and wildlife along the way. There is plenty to do within easy reach of the cottage – come and explore!
Clare Cottage was a dream come true. It was a pleasure to return to the cottage each day after trips around North Norfolk, knowing we could sit outside and enjoy the peaceful surroundings (with a nice glass of wine or two) and wait for the barn owl to swoop across the meadow that formed part of the property. The bedrooms were great, the household appliances were excellent and the power shower was an unexpected delight. We will certainly make every effort to return as soon as possible.
Clare Cottage is a well appointed large cottage in the beautiful village of Gunthorpe, a short drive from the coast. The house is well equipped, and has a large utility space, useful for dogs. The garage houses many items, such as deck chairs, buckets and spades and two bicycles. There are two spacious bedrooms, with attractive low windows, framed by roses in summer, and a childrens' room with 4 bunk beds. There is a large selection of toys in a downstairs room, (which also contains a single bed), for children under ten. The garden is large, with a meadow containing wild flowers, and a view of Gunthorpe Church in the distance.
Cottage is in a very quiet village, well appointed and a lovely place to relax, and enjoy a quiet break in the lovely countryside. We will miss the sunny evenings on the patio enjoying watching the sun going down. Not far from many lovely pubs for food.
We had a lovely stay at your house, it was so cosy and comfortable and felt like a special place full of happy memories. Thank you so much for the arrival goodies for everyone :-) The boys loved playing in the meadow, and got through many pairs of trousers/ socks etc! We even found the faraway tree
We have loved everything about our stay, two pubs particularly stood out for us- the three horseshoes at Warham and the White horse at Brancaster Staithe, which had a pop up marquee serving seafood. Amazing! Both very family friendly too. Absolutely love the beaches too and the weather has been pretty kind to us not too much rain!
