Elsing is a delightful village in the Wensum valley surrounded by peaceful farmland and water meadows. The village is widely spread with a selection of interesting buildings such as The Mill on the edge of the River Wensum, moated Elsing Hall and at the centre the parish church of St Mary dating from 1347. There is also a traditional village pub that serves good food. Elsing is well placed to explore the surrounding area: the villages, marshes and beaches of the Norfolk coast are just over half an hour's drive, and the cathedral city of Norwich is a twenty minute drive away. Closer to home you will find attractive villages such as Lyng, Bintree and Reepham where you will find independent shops selling local produce, plus tea shops, pubs and restaurants offering brunch, lunch and dinner. The area is great for walking, cycling, bird watching, golf and fishing or just relax and enjoy the countryside.

Reviews

This property was wonderful and certainly lived up to the images on the website. There was every comfort and the summerhouse was beautiful with its view across the mill pond of Elsing Mill on the River Wensum. A lovely location only a short distance for various amenities.

Mrs S,

Extremely high quality spotless accommodation in a period building. Quiet countryside location near to a river where we spotted a kingfisher! One of the best I’ve stayed at and many things to do and see in Norfolk. Summer house was a lovely bonus.

Dr C,

Mill Cottage is an exceptional property finished to a very high standard, It was very clean. The layout is very suitable for a great family holiday and there is a good outdoor eating area with a gas BBQ. The property is in a peaceful location but it is accessible to all areas of North Norfolk and Norwich. In the nearby village [1 mile] there is an excellent shop selling all necessary provisions [you can order fresh bread] and pub. Would highly recommend.

Ms J,

Mill cottage is a most delightful place to stay and explore the Norfolk countryside. We took our cycles with us and kept to the small quiet B roads. Quite lovely. The cottage more than ticked all the boxes for us. Extremely well equipped to a very high standard. Great touches , flowers, wine and biscuits provided. Home from home. We have rebooked for 2022.

Mrs H,

The owners had thought of everything we could need. And it was all high quality fittings. Great holiday.

Mr C,

Fabulous property. Really well equipped and beautifully decorated and maintained. The view from the summer house is what sets this property apart from others - love sitting and watching mill pond flow past. Very highly recommended.

Miss L,

A wonderful relaxing holiday with every facility that you could wish for, peace and tranquillity in abundance. A beautiful location with the added advantage of the summerhouse overlooking the Mill Pond, perfect for afternoon coffee. The quality of the accommodation is outstanding and was greatly appreciated, all being on one level suited us well, as one member of our party had limited mobility. Would highly recommend Mill Cottage for the perfect holiday.

Mrs L,

A wonderful cottage, everything was better than described.

Mr C,

Mill Cottage makes a great base days out in the area, as well as "stay at home" days. Fabulous makeover has made the cottage especially spacious, light & bright, and been completed to a high standard. The summerhouse is ideal for those "chill out" moments! The garden, which is fully enclosed, is especially safe for my young granddaughter to play in.

Ms M,

Lovely situated property in quiet spot but also a great base to explore Norfolk. Very comfortable and clean.

Mr Michael D,

The cottage was perfect, very well equipped and has a lovely personal touch.

Mrs Elena F,

Stayed at Mill cottage as a surprise for my wife’s 50th birthday, she was over the moon when showing her where we were staying . The cottage is truly exceptional and a magical place to relax and unwind. It is both characterful with a very modern interior. On arrival we found a birthday card and bottle of wine for my wife from the owners also luxury biscuits, orange juice, milk, tea, coffee, such thoughtful touches and very much appreciated. The owners were fantastic and went out of their way to help, recommending a restaurant- The Brisley Bell where we managed to book a table at short notice and had a wonderful meal. The cottage has everything and more you could wish for, including a great selection of dvd’s and books. We lit the log burner a couple of times and was so nice to sit in the lounge area with a drink curled up on the sumptuous sofas enjoying the glow of the fire.Such a stunning location with views across to the mill I cannot rate this cottage highly enough, it was very hard to leave , but will return again soon. I am so glad I booked this cottage for my wife’s birthday it was one of the best holidays we have ever had and we have stayed in many areas of the U.K.
