Elsing is a delightful village in the Wensum valley surrounded by peaceful farmland and water meadows. The village is widely spread with a selection of interesting buildings such as The Mill on the edge of the River Wensum, moated Elsing Hall and at the centre the parish church of St Mary dating from 1347. There is also a traditional village pub that serves good food. Elsing is well placed to explore the surrounding area: the villages, marshes and beaches of the Norfolk coast are just over half an hour's drive, and the cathedral city of Norwich is a twenty minute drive away. Closer to home you will find attractive villages such as Lyng, Bintree and Reepham where you will find independent shops selling local produce, plus tea shops, pubs and restaurants offering brunch, lunch and dinner. The area is great for walking, cycling, bird watching, golf and fishing or just relax and enjoy the countryside.
This cottage was absolutely amazing; it far surpasses, in all aspects, anything we have ever stayed in before. Its five star rating does not do it justice. We hope to return in the future.
This is a lovely property in a quite location overlooking the mill pond. Everything inside and out was was top quality and spacious.
We have been all around the UK on an annual self catering holiday since 1996 and can honestly say that Mill Cottage was the most pristine property that we have ever stayed in! It is superb, and would thoroughly recommend it.
