Castle Acre is a hidden gem in the lea of 'royal' West Norfolk and the coast. Famed for its 13th Century Cluniac Priory ruins managed by English Heritage, the 12th Century Norman castle ruins and Bailey's Gate, this ancient village, with a traditional pub, is a joy to wander through. From the village it is easy to access both Peddars Way and the Nar Valley Way, both of which offer beautiful countryside on the doorstep. Great houses are nearby with Houghton Hall and the Sandringham Estate just a short drive away and if you fancy a flutter, Fakenham Racecourse has year round meetings. The delights of the Norfolk coast, with the family friendly beaches of Heacham and Hunstanton to the west and the RSPB reserve at Titchwell to the north, intermingle with lovely coastal spots such as Brancaster and Thornham, whilst those keen to shop need look no further than sophisticated Burnham Market. A stay at Castle Acre gives you the best of both worlds in its accessibility and tranquility and will be somewhere to return to time and again.

Thank you for a wonderful holiday. We've had an amazing time - there's so much to do in Norfolk! It's been lovely staying in this beautiful cottage in this delightful part of Norfolk. Thank you

Past Customer,

A lovely relaxing break in a beautiful cottage. Only a short break but managed to visit many places and have some lovely walks. Holkham was beautiful beach! Basic supplies were gratefully received, thank you.

Past Customer,

Really enjoyed our stay in your cottage which really suited our needs. Beautiful village and part of Norfolk. We definately will return to Cockleshells - thank you.

Past Customer,

Thoroughly enjoyed our second Norfolk Cottage Holiday - Our first to this area. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely cottage (and thank you for the welcome milk and biscuits!), we've felt comfortable and at home. We loved the circular walk and would recommend it - we did parts of it on seperate days, sunday and monday, and it was beautiful each time. The views from every window made a lovely change from city life and watching trees become more autumnal with every day has been spectacular. Make sure you visit The Ostrich on burger night - absolutely delicious! Thank you again - the r&r was much needed!

Megan & M,

A lovely family holiday in this delightful, comfortable and well equipped cottage. We have enjoyed our stay in Norfolk revisiting places we have not been to for a long time. Can recommend the George and Dragon for food and the café in the village. Thank you Norma, Andrew, Ben, Gracey, David and Sarah

Mr Andrew T,

Really enjoyed our stay, lovely walks, delicious fish and chips from the shop in the village and some great visits to Houghton Hall, Sandringham and Oxburgh. We will definitely return to this part of the country. Can recommend the village café and the Dabbling Duck pub too! Many thanks, Vanessa Richard Ollie and George.

Mrs Vanessa P,
