The pet-friendly property welcomes four guests and is ideal for couples and small families who have a love of the great outdoors, with numerous walking trails to explore from your front door. Welney sits on the edge of the Norfolk Fens and is surrounded by wildlife-rich wetlands, including WWT Welney Wetland Centre (2.2 miles) – a haven for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers. The cottage is also the perfect base for keen anglers, with pike fishing available on the Old Bedford River, which passes the cottage, and access to fully stocked fishing lakes at Pisces Country Park (1 mile). The ancient town of Downham Market is 12 miles away and is a great place to pick up delicious local produce, with some fantastic independent shops and regular markets. You’ll also be just 10 miles from the Cambridgeshire city of Ely, where you’ll find an excellent range of cafes and restaurants.
The redbrick, semi-detached cottage is warm and inviting, with traditional wooden furniture, neutral décor, and homely touches throughout. Two steps lead from the parking area to the cottage, and once inside, you’ll find a bright and airy lounge/diner where you can unwind after a day of outdoor adventure. Sink into one of the comfortable sofas to watch the TV/DVD or read a book, and on a chilly night, you can light the open fire to create a cosy atmosphere. To the rear of the room is a wooden dining table by the window, where you can share mealtimes as a group. From here, a door leads through to the separate contemporary kitchen, where you can rustle up delicious feasts using fresh, local ingredients. Upstairs, to the front of the cottage, is a spacious, super-king-size bedroom with pretty, floral fabrics and plenty of storage for all your holiday attire. For added convenience this bedroom also has an en-suite with WC and wash basin. The second bedroom is an attractive twin boasting magnificent views across open countryside. Completing the accommodation is a refreshing, ground-floor family bathroom and a peaceful conservatory – the ideal spot to sit with a morning coffee as you plan the day’s itinerary.
Outside, relax in the sunshine in the enclosed cottage garden. There’s a lawn where children can play, as well as a seating area for al fresco dining. The property has private parking for one car. In addition to the rear garden there is a communal green opposite with a picnic bench
