Get to know the AONB splendour of North Norfolk with a stay in historic Holkham. This romantic cottage for two guests is situated on the Holkham Hall estate, surrounded by endless acres of outdoor beauty including landscaped gardens, a tranquil lake and a deer park. You’ll find something appealing in every direction when you step outside this handsome cottage, including the golden sand beaches that the Norfolk Coast is known for, around 2.5 miles away. As well as hosting two guests, this splendid cottage is also pet friendly, perfect for those who wouldn’t book a walking retreat without the company of man’s best friend.

A perfect blend of style and comfort, this first-floor apartment is instantly appealing. Spend time in the open-plan living area where a cosy lounge gives way to a functional kitchen/diner area. Rustle up something hearty and delicious for two in the well-equipped kitchen, before sinking into the sofas and switching on the Smart TV. There’s also a Smart TV in the king-size bedroom, allowing you to get curled up for a movie night in bed. A well-presented bathroom is also on this floor, completing the property’s offering. Moving outside, a lawned garden with outdoor furniture offers fantastic views and space for al fresco nights.

Head over to the neighbouring village of Wells-next-the-Sea (1.5 miles), a great destination where you can go crabbing on the quay or admire the colourful beach huts that line the wide, sandy beach (2.5 miles). Here you’ll find yourself right on the Norfolk Coast Path, a long-distance walking route that connects the village to some of North Norfolk’s seaside highlights, including the seabird-packed RSPB Titchwell Marsh area and the seal-spotters zone, Blakeney Point (both 9.5 miles).

It was fine at a good, basic level. Small disappointments: Only one coffee pod for three days. The water in the bath was luke-warm on the three nights The bed was only quite comfortable.

Nice cottage, very steep steps upstairs though not suitable for older guests, difficult to take all our luggage up.Clean and cosy but no way near enough cutlery especially if cooking meals. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. We can confirm that we will discuss this with the owner.

Holm Oak Hideaway 2 is in a great location in Holkham village and not far from the beach down Lady Anne's Drive but also with easy access to the Hall and Estate. Lots to explore. Perfect for a couple. Sadly the Hall and Walled Garden had not opened for the season when we stayed but the Courtyard Cafe and the Beach Cafe were available. The apartmentRead more is on the first floor and the stairs which would have been for the original cottage when it was one; were relatively steep as common in older properties, so may not be suitable for anyone who finds steps difficult. However that means it has good views. Great little storage/vanity area in the bedroom complete with mirror and lighting. The toiletries were from the estate (and available in the gift shop if you are tempted). Large fluffy towels too. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped but would have benefitted from for example a small mixing bowl, colander and a cheese grater. The outside bistro table and chairs are in fact with Holm Oak 1 and not accessible by the property but there was a bench seat. There was parking permit for the estate which included one of the car parks in Wells and discount in the estates shops/cafes. The Victoria which is on the opposite side of the entrance drive to the property is a restaurant/hotel and needs to be booked advance, unless you are a hotel guest or have a meal booking be aware there is no bar in which to pop in for a drink. However, Adams have a shop just up in the village which is well stocked with both beer wine and a few snacks. There is a bus stop no distance from the property which is very frequent and gives access to the coastal villages. We took our vintage bikes for a test run on the quiet estate tracks but bike hire is available on site. Would love to return. Ms G and Mr W, March 2024 Hide

Lovely cottage, fabulous setting close walk to the beach and Holkham is beautiful. Be aware though that if like us you are taking a dog, the garden is not securely enclosed as it has a very low wall and low fence. We had to keep our pooch on a lead.

A really beautiful property in the equally beautiful setting of the Holkham estate. The apartment was on the first floor so has lovely views and was cosy and warm. Very good range of coffee table style books left for us to read, a TV and a few board games. Spotlessly clean and modernized inside. All the equipment you would need for a short stay Read moreand reasonable storage. The bedroom vanity area had a mirror and plugs in all the right places for hairdryer etc. Very comfy bed but a bit short for a tall husband! The kitchen was well equipped with good quality items including an air fryer, coffee machine and microwave. The Holkham toiletries were from Holkham estate and really lovely. The owners also left a parking permit for the estate and a discount card for the shops. There was a wine shop behind the property which had a huge range and also gifts, and the country outdoor wear shop was equally well stocked with good quality items. Plenty of secure parking around the properties. The Victoria opposite is lovely although we didn't visit on this occasion we had been before and recommend it. Holkham beach is only a short walk down the road too. We would definitely consider staying in one of the properties again when in Norfolk and would recommend this property. Hide

Our stay at Holm Oak Hideaway 2 was very enjoyable. The facilities in the apartment were modern, clean and tidy. The location is the best weve known for exploring the north Norfolk coast. Little touches of locally sourced food and books were very well thought. We would very much recommend a stay here.
