Royal Norfolk Coast visitor guide

Wild salt marshes, sweeping sands, lavender fields and grand Royal estates…

This area of Norfolk is ripe for those who appreciate the finer things in life – royal residences, shellfish, locally-brewed ales, sailing, boutique shopping, art galleries, rare wildlife and Iceni hoards. Pottering along the coast road, or inland through pretty villages such as Dersingham and Sandringham, you could be fooled for thinking you were in the south of France – especially at Heacham with its rolling fields of lavender. Spend your days meandering through the stately homes and estates at Sandringham and Houghton. Or get up early, pop on your wellies and stomp through salt marshes rich in local mussels and oysters before settling into one of the elegant pubs to savour a feast fit for Queen Boudicca (or our locals - the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!). You don’t have to be a keen birder to marvel at the winged beauties at RSPB Titchwell and Snettisham, nor do you have to be an astrologer to while away an evening stargazing from your cottage garden. Just be sure to keep your eyes and mind open as you explore this beautiful part of our county – memories are to be made at every corner.
