Heacham is the birthplace of Norfolk Lavender, take in the scent from the lavender fields bordering the village and admire the purple heady fields around. Heacham is also the home of the Rolfe family, legend dictates that in the 1600’s John Rolfe left England in search of adventure in the ‘New World’ ensuring the survival of the first English speaking settlement, Jamestown, in Virginia. John later married the legendary Native American Indian Princess “Pocahontas whose image is featured on the village sign; in recent times ‘Pocahontas Way’ was named after the Indian Princess. Heacham has two fabulous dog-friendly beaches, head along south beach towards Snettisham or North to Hunstanton where the two places link by the popular promenade and take a gentle stroll width your four legged friends along the shoreline and peruse the changing tides, you may even spot an inquisitive seal or two in the Wash! The village boasts a beautiful Manor House, ‘Heacham Manor’ with golf course, bar and restaurant facilities just a minutes’ walk from Sunset View. There are two supermarkets three pubs one with ‘home-brewed’ beers on offer, all serving food. Located on the outskirts of the village is Norfolk Lavender, why not pop in for lunch or meander through the scented gardens, with a farm shop too you can pick up fresh supplies or visit the butchers shop too. Youngsters will enjoy a trip to Farmer Fred’s with indoor soft-play area or a visiting the small animal farm.
