Docking is a pretty village that lies on one of the highest points in the county and acts as a great launch pad for discovering this hidden part of the north-west Norfolk countryside and coast. The village itself has a lovely 14C/15C church, St Mary the Virgin, a good pub, a great fish and chip shop and local stores. If you like walking you can access the Peddars Way, which lies to the west of the village and for history buffs there are three great houses to visit in the area at Sandringham, Houghton and Holkham, each with their own flavour and style. With some renowned restaurants in coastal villages such as Thornham, Brancaster, Wells-next-the-Sea and a Michelin star restaurant in Old Hunstanton there is plenty of fine dining to be had and you can walk it all off again with a brisk stroll on the fabulous beaches of Brancaster and Hunstanton, which stretch for miles when the tide is out. You can also find local bike hire, golf, sailing, seal watching and bird watching at RSPB Titchwell in the area and boutique shopping in the charming Georgian village of Burnham Market, which should not be missed.

We have enjoyed our stay in your lovely cottage that was so comfortable and well equipped. Home from home. Also thanks for the immediate response in replacing the TV - knocked out just before we arrived by a storm. We put it to good use, particularly on Wednesday. The dog also had a great time running on the wide sandy beaches. The Rand Party - 29th June 2017
This is a lovely cottage. Very comfortable and well appointed! Sympathetically modernised with the character of the building. Mrs C Bell - 7th March 2017
Cardinal Cottage was very clean and well equipped. The kitchen had everything one would need. It was extremely cosy with a very efficient heating system. The decor was homely and the bed extremely comfortable. We would willingly stay again. The private patio is a bonus for the Summer. We have stayed in many self catering premises and this, for the money paid, was of a superb standard. It was very convenient to book the cottage for a wk Mon to Mon. Norfolk Cottages were very helpful and efficient.Mr David Hill - 22nd October 2016
Thank you for a brilliant accommodation and service this week. Cardinal's Cottage has been a perfect base for us - it's been clean, comfortable with perfect facilities and a great location. We couldn't have asked for more - Thank you.The Styan Party - 9th September 2016
A perfect, wonderful cottage and first time in Norfolk so we did loads of exploring. There was so much to see and do. We couldn't have wished for a more perfect break, sunshine too. I'm so glad we couldn't get a hotel now! Will never stay in a hotel again. So clean and so very pretty in Docking.Ms J Redwood - 18th July 2016
