West Runton is an appealing seaside village nestled into the north Norfolk coastal landscape. It offers a family friendly beach with crabbing and fossil hunting and there is a pub, grocers, station, two cafes, Rocky Bottom - the local fish restaurant, a gym, golf and swimming all to be found within half a mile of the cottage's front door. To the east discover the resort of Cromer with its famous Pier and cliff top walks and further along this stretch of the coast are numerous flat, sandy beaches that are often not over populated even in the summer.  Head west and discover the open marshes at Stiffkey and Cley-next-the-Sea and seaside villages such as Blakeney and Wells-next-the-Sea, each with their own unique character.  With great pubs, delis, smokehouses, farmshops and eateries there are plenty of places that showcase the produce that Norfolk is justifiably famous for such as crabs, mussels, cheeses, wines and more. The area is rich in history too with Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Hall both run by the National Trust and Holkham Hall, the seat of the Earl of Leicester, which is still an independent family-run estate all nearby. This is a wonderful part of the county and a holiday here will bring back many happy memories for years to come.

Reviews

We had a lovely time exploring the North Norfolk coast and the house was a fantastic base and so beautifully decorated.

Panayi Family,

We did come back! Love it here. The cottage is cosy and comfortable and welcoming. Thank you! Highly recommend the Pepperpot - excellent cuisine! And the Corner House Cafe - good coffee and delicious food. Such a friendly place and superb location. Can't wait to come back!

Jacinta and Gerard Crowe,

Excellent cottage very much home from home. Everything we required and it all works, very clean and tidy. We were very lucky with the weather, with walks around West Runton and the beach. Would recommend The Two Lifeboats at Sheringham for food. After staying in Sheringham for the previous 5 years we will definitely be giving Bluebird another look next year.

Paul & Lynne,

We are packing up to leave your beautiful cottage. We have never been quite so comfortable whilst away on holiday. It's a real home from home and we've enjoyed the neighbouring towns and gorgeous seafood.

The Tedd Party,

It has lovely being back in your beautiful cottage. We have had mixed weather this year but it hasn't stopped us having a great time. We repeated some favourite things - trips to the beach, ride on the steam train, mooching round the antique shops in Holt. and tried some new ones - boat trip to see the seals on Blakeney Point, the Priory Maze & Gardens and a lovely walk along the beach from Cromer to Overstrand (about an hour at a gentle stroll) lovely cafes at Overstrand & West Runton beaches. Thanks again for making the cottage a home from home.

Jo, Peter & Sam,

We've had an excellent holiday and are very sad to be leaving. Highlights for the boys included a trip to Splash, Muckleburgh and a train journey to Norwich to visit the impressive castle, while we enjoyed the simple pleasures of walks along the beach / clifftop and saltmarshes. Bluebird Cottage is by far, the best holiday property we've stayed in - thank you.

The Warwicks,

Beautiful cottage - it felt like our "home" after everyday out! Fantastic location, easy parking and excellent quality. You have thought of everything - I didn't need to use any of my products or tea towels! Real comfort knowing our 18 month boy felt safe and happy - he knew exactly which gate was ours for the week!! Beautiful artwork and fun unicorn tissues!! Thank you. Best wishes

The Russells,

Stayed in this lovely cottage for 2 weeks - I have mirror envy - everything is very tasteful and comfortable. Great shower and bath, so relaxing. Went to Sheringham Park, lovely day lots of walking, also Felbrigg Hall, Cromer and Sheringham. Rocky Bottoms - 10 mins walk is great for Crab & Seafood. Rocket Cafe, Cromer great for everything including the view. Good buses and travel links, a great local shop. We hope to return - love this part of the county.

Carol & Barry,

Thank you for a great week in your lovely cottage with everything thoughtfully provided. We had a super time cycling, eating Cromer Crab and seal spotting at Horsey beach. Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Hall are well worth a visit. The Pepperpot is the best restaurant we have been to for gluten free. The food is superb.

Penny and Paul,

We've never been to Norfolk before and this was a truly lovely cottage to have as our home from home for the week! The decor and facilities here are brilliant! Thank you for a comfortable stay.

The Nettle Party,

We had a great short week over Easter here, even though the weather has been really poor. We loved everything about the cottage - it made the perfect holiday home and West Runton has been ideal with the sea in walking distance, a coffee shop virtually next door and the pub over the road. Many Thanks - one of the best holiday properties we've stayed in.

The Barton Party,

We had a lovely 3 day stay here in the cottage - made for a good base for long wintery walks. The cottage is well equipped and had everything we needed. Thanks

The Swanson Party,

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cosy cottage - the perfect shelter from Storm Eleanor. Thank you for all the lovely touches - especially the beautiful flowers and hyacinths, the fluffy towels and gorgeous bed linen. When we could drag ourselves away we enjoyed Holkham and Brancaster beaches for bracing walks; Sheringham Park; the Welks cafe in Sheringham for lunch with a view, The Kings Arms in Blakeney, the steam train to Holt. We're sorry to be going home.

The Guthrie Party,

A wonderful first impression. Welcome pack very much appreciated & the vase of flowers was so welcoming - Thank you. a lovely 'first venture'. Bed linen is superb, as are the thick towels and wooden coathangers in the wardrobe. A wonderful mixure of stylish/classy with homely/cottagey! Great modern bathroom & kitchen, a well equipped property. It's a good location for walking, straight from the property, or car travel to other coastline villages - so much to see and enjoy. Thank you

The West-Gillam Party ,

We've had a wonderful week & absolutely loved staying at Bluebird Cottage (our 3 year old daughter even asked to come back to the cottage whilst we were out for the day!). Fantastic location - we've enjoyed being able to walk to the beach. We also had a great day out at Bewilderwood, taking the steam train from Sheringham to Holt, painted pottery at Doodlepots in Holt, had a day out in Norwich, one at Blickling and enjoyed the sands at Holkham. We'd love to come back!

The Barley Party ,

Thank you for such a warm (literally!) welcome. It's so nice to arrive to find the heating on! The cottage is lovely - cosy, beautifully appointed and well equipped. The big fluffy towels are wonderful! Ideal location - lots of good walks right on the doorstep. The horse sanctuary is worth a visit. Hope to come back!
