An architect designed house with lovely spaces and bright rooms, Orchard House, is in an idyllic setting in the quiet village of Great Walsingham. There is a ground floor bedroom and en-suite bathroom, and the kitchen/breakfast room benefits from an easy-to-use electric AGA and an additional cooker. The sofa invites you to cosy in beside the AGA on cooler days and the living room, with its wood burner, is another inviting spot in the house. There is a lovely, private garden with access from both the kitchen and the dining room, perfect for eating out, catching the sun or planning the day with a morning coffee. From the house, turn right and walk around the corner to discover Great Walsingham Barns with a café that sells perhaps the best pies in Norfolk. Turn left and drift down the hill to the ford, that once crossed, can lead you into Little Walsingham, which has a brilliant farm shop, cafes, a local store and a good pub or two. Shops/Pubs: 1 mile

Great Walsingham is an ancient and peaceful North Norfolk village, with a local café, a craft and art centre, gift and interiors shop. There are numerous walks from within the village. Past the ford is St Peters, one of the finest churches in the area and opposite in the woods and field behind Berry Hall, there is also public access with lovely views. The sister village of Little Walsingham is a mile away and it is worth a visit to explore its Abbey and shrines, age-old streets and good pubs. Only four miles inland from the seashore, the coastline boasts a host of picturesque and interesting villages to visit, from Brancaster in the west to Blakeney and Cley-next-the-Sea in the east. There are beautiful sandy beaches at Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham, where you can also visit historic Holkham Hall, seat of the Earls of Leicester. Inland the delightful and bustling Georgian towns of Burnham Market and Holt also make a great day out and the surrounding lanes are great for walkers and cyclists alike.
We had the pleasure of being the first guests at Orchard House. We have enjoyed the peace and quiet and simply walking around the village spotting butterflies and birds. We have seen barn owls, tawny and little owls - all just the other side of the ford. We hope the next guests enjoy the house, facilities and surrounds as much as we have.
This cottage was simply marvellous we were kept company by a friendly family of pigeons building their nest and a hooting owl. The bedding was as silk and the dinning room was perfect for a group of 6. The village of Great Walsingham really quaint with what must be the only phone box still in use in the England. We filled our time with trips to Great Walsingham Barns, Brancaster Staithe, Holkham and Burnham Overy. The highlight of our trip was sitting in the wildflower meadow looking over the marshes to the sea whilst eating fresh mackerel, oven fired pizza st Wiveton Hall, would recommend lots of love Alison,Marc,AJ and Hal
