Hidden behind a garden gate enjoy discovering Old Beams, a charming cottage with more to it than first meets the eye. With roses round the door, and a sunny, private courtyard garden, al fresco breakfast or supper on warmer days is a given. Oozing character with beams, exposed brick walls and a central wood burner warming the winter living room and dining space, follow through and at the rear of the house is a sunny summer sitting room. One of the bedrooms has a skylight window; lie in bed and watch the beautiful night skies – relax and dream a little. There is secure bike storage available and dogs are welcome. The village has a good pub and a destination local store showcasing Norfolk produce, a coffee shop and gifts; don’t miss out on the homemade brownies, the best on the coast some say! Stiffkey is a delightful North Norfolk village, which backs on to both the Holkham and the Blakeney National Nature Reserves in this well-known part of the county, whilst the village itself hosts a pub and a great village shop. The location allows for easy access to discover the entire coastal region with charming villages such as Morston, Blakeney and Cley-next-the-Sea, to the east and Wells-next-the-Sea, Burnham Market and Brancaster to the west. Inland highlights include Burnham Market, Binham and Holt. The area is a natural haven for sailors, bird watchers and families alike with quays and creeks to explore, wide sandy beaches to play on, coastal walks and RSPB centres to visit, all within easy reach.
This was our second visit and it won't be our last. For bird watching and proximity to the coast and other villages like Cley, Titchwell and the Burnhams - you can't better it. The accommodation is charming, comfortable and quite unique with lovely ornaments that make you feel at the seaside and homely.
We had a fantastic stay at Old Beams. The location is excellent, it’s a short walk down to the marshes which we loved exploring as well as a short walk to the pub and the shop. The cottage itself is very well equipped and having the two sitting rooms was a real bonus. The garden was very secure (no chance of our dog escaping) and a lovely place to sit and eat or relax.
Another fabulous stay at Old Beams! Great location, lovely cottage. Thank you!
