If you are looking for a little bit of luxury on holiday, look no further – The Orangery is one of two properties let by the same owner, the other being Cranmer Hall Barn (1741 ) next door. Dedicated to the best of everything The Orangery originally dates back to the 1800’s but has recently been fully restored to offer high-end living all on one level.  With fabulous chandeliers throughout the house, gorgeous sleigh beds for a sumptuous nights’ sleep, a Kestrel hand built kitchen and period and antique pieces at every turn, the property is an elegant holiday home.   The other joy of The Orangery is its rural location, which offers a true haven of peace, tranquility and the ability to get-away-from-it-all.  The outside terrace, which runs the length of the building, has an Italianate feel to it and aside from being a great entertaining space in warmer weather it also has lovely views over the surrounding parkland. Inside, the fabulous bespoke Swedish wood burning stove is a feature of the house and will warm up fingers and toes in no time after an autumnal walk.  This stylish house just to the south of South Creake is a refined retreat that you will want to return to again and again.  Shop/Pub: 1.5 miles

Garden: a delightful patio is easily accessed from the dining room, sitting room and Bedroom 2.  Patio table and chairs and charcoal barbeque.  Beyond is a lawned area that is shared by both properties.

Notes:  This is a non-smoking property. Please note that the gardens are newly planted and will mature in time. Due to the quality of the antiques in The Orangery this property does not accept children. The Orangery can be booked with Cranmer Hall Barn (1741) sleeping 4, ideal for extended parties of friends who like to holiday together but retain their own space. Mobile reception – variable. 

Cranmer is a small hamlet of a few buildings nestled in the north Norfolk countryside and ideal for exploring both the Royal Norfolk coast, west Norfolk and the glorious coastline to the north, much of which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  It is lovely walking and cycling country and the flat landscape readily lends itself to its exploration.  Situated not far from the Georgian town of Burnham Market, spend some time here investigating the boutique shopping, galleries, café’s, pubs and restaurants that are collected around the village green and then drive on towards the coast and fabulous sandy beaches of Thornham and Brancaster to the west and Holkham and Wells-next-the-Sea to the east. Seek out sailing, seal trips and fish & chips whilst you are here, as well as the RSPB reserves at Snettisham and Titchwell.  Historic houses in the area abound and many happy hours can be spent discovering the Royal Estate at Sandringham, Holkham Hall with its deer park or Houghton Hall with fabulous grounds and for soldiers’ young and old alike, visit the largest private collection of model soldiers in the world at the Soldier Museum here.  Norfolk is well known as a foodie county and the area does not disappoint – there is a regular farmers market at Creake Abbey, just up the road, on the first Saturday of each month and a great deli and restaurant here year round. The White Horse at Brancaster is on the coast and you can on occasion see the famous local mussels landed here and the Duck Inn at Sedgeford has just received the Good Food Guide Award for 2017 as Local Restaurant of the Year for east England – book early!

Our holiday coincided with the coldest February week for five years, however The Orangery proved a wonderful, warm retreat. Having taken all necessary provisions with us, it wasn’t a problem to be snowed in for three days and gave us the perfect opportunity to relax and appreciate the expansive landscape and wide variety of wildlife. Spending our days inside was a real pleasure in such well-furnished surroundings and we can appreciate how amazing it would be to stay there in the summer, with the doors wide open. Norfolk Country Cottages were extremely helpful when we needed to stay an additional night for the snow to clear and the roads to become safe to drive home and were quick to respond to all our enquiries. This property was everything the website showed it to be. The standard was excellent, and the location was perfect.
