Description

Pretty as a picture, with roses around the door in the summer, this lovely 1840’s cottage sits directly beside the small River Burn that runs through the village of South Creake, which in itself, is a designated Conservation Area. Tucked away down a traditional Norfolk loke, the charm of the property is evident as soon as you step through the stable door. With beamed rooms, cosy spaces and a picture window looking up stream from the dining space, you would be forgiven for thinking you are dreaming. A lovely double bedroom on the ground floor has French doors that open onto the loke – let the morning birdsong drift in as you plan your day or luxuriate in the shapely slipper bath in the family bathroom. On the first floor, there is another double and a single bedroom. The living room is also up here, with beautiful beams and just the right amount of technology that mixes perfectly the old and the new. The small, sunny garden fronts the river and is a lovely spot to sit with a good book and your favourite tipple or stargaze the summer skies during an outdoor supper on warmer nights. South Creake is an attractive and ancient village within its own Conservation Area that has one of Norfolk's best gastro pubs and a character that feels somewhat other-worldly. It is a lovely and quiet spot to unravel from the hustle and bustle of everyday living. It makes a great location for accessing some wonderful parts of north Norfolk. Creake Abbey Cafe, Food Hall, Shops and Studios, where a great farmer's market is held on the first Saturday of the month, are just up the road and the elegant Georgian town of Burnham Market is less than 5 miles away. It has plenty of independent shops, award winning restaurants and local food producers all clustered around the pretty central green. The coast is just over the hill and the beautiful sandy beaches that line the top of Norfolk are ready to welcome you; Brancaster has stunning sands and is a haven for sand and kite surfers alike. Holkham and Wells-next-the Sea also have exquisite beaches, backed by pinewoods with plenty of walking and cycle trails. All lie in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that is popular year-round for bird watchers, walkers and those just wanting to experience a sense of freedom.
