The charming Georgian town of Holt is the ideal base to tour North Norfolk and and the countryside around it. Holt is a unique market town boasting a large selection of interesting shops, art galleries and antique emporiums. It is a great place for eating out, with a good selection of restaurants, cafes and pubs both in the town and surrounding villages. It has a large country park with over 200 acres of heath and woodland, ideal for walkers, dogs and nature lovers. The town is close to the coastal villages of Cley, Blakeney and Salthouse all of which are excellent centres for bird watching. For sandy beaches and traditional seaside towns, both Sheringham and Cromer fit the bill perfectly.

This house was ideal for us, with six adults and three children under 6, with five bedrooms and plenty of space downstairs. It’s on three floors, so it’s a good idea to make use of stair gates with young toddlers. The games in the garage (snooker, darts and table tennis) were great fun for the adults. Holt is an easy ten minute walk from the house, with excellent tea rooms and pubs if you fancy a treat. The children enjoyed the North Norfolk steam railway to Sheringham, again, easily accessible from Holt. Our favourite beach at East Runton is only a twenty minute drive away, with Cromer another five minutes away if you fancy a traditional seaside day out with the pier, fish and chips and crazy golf. Blakeney is great for seeing the seals, or a walk over to Cley for the birdwatchers in the party. There is also Blickling Hall (NT) which has plenty of space for everyone to enjoy a stroll and they provide games equipment too.

Mrs W,

We didn’t have great weather over the weekend stay but having the pool table, darts and table tennis meant we were not staring out of the window praying for the rain to stop. A great place and we are already discussing re-booking. Many thanks.

Mr B,
