High Kelling cottages
High Kelling is an attractive village close to the North Norfolk coast which boasts an abundance of pine trees and mature woodland. You will find a shop, post office and café plus a lovely pub The Red Heart nearby in Bodham which serves excellent home cooked dishes.
The Georgian market town of Holt can be reached on foot for the more energetic amongst us and here you will find an array of quality clothes shops, art galleries, book shops and cafes. You can also ride the North Norfolk Poppy Line from Holt to the nearby seaside town of Sheringham. Not only can you enjoy Sheringham beach, the town has amusement arcades, gift shops a little theatre and a beautiful park, which is famous for its display of dazzling purple rhododendrons in early summer. As well as numerous waymarked walks through the extensive woodland at the south of the park, there’s a Tree Trail taking you past some rare and unusual trees.
The whole area is superb for walking, and birdwatchers are spoilt for choice with Cley, Salthouse, and Blakeney all within easy reach and are great to explore at any time of the day.
Also nearby you will find the Blickling Hall estate which is well worth a visit. This National Trust property dating back to 1620s is a magnificent example of Jacobean architecture and is thought to be the birthplace of Anne Boleyn. Spend a day here discovering the grand house, plus the beautiful gardens and many miles of parkland around the state.
