Description
A recently renovated quaint little cottage based in a hamlet of old fishermen's cottages in Newport, Hemsby. These quirky homes are now rare to come by, built for local people making a living from the sea from as far back as 1750, and are now make up a designated conservation area. Built from beach pebbles and lime mortar with clay in a style known as ‘Caister Cobble’, Mermaid Cottage sits just behind sand dunes a stone’s throw from the beach and boasts beautiful sea views from both bedrooms. This warm and cosy cottage sits pretty, perched on top of a small cliff next to Hemsby’s unspoilt sandy beaches which are easily accessible from the back of the cottage by foot. The cottage is well-equipped for your self-catered stay, and suitable all year round for families or friends; cosy up on the comfortable seating provided in front of the telly and warm your toes after a long walk on the beach with the wood-burner, or bask in the sunshine in your own private courtyard garden.

Hemsby itself is divided into two main areas: the village and the beach. The village has a number of shops, including a convenience store, a local butcher, hairdressers and several takeaways. Beach Road plays host to a range of eateries and amusements including a fun fair and bingo, crazy gold and several clubs providing family entertainment including dancing and discos. All within a few miles of the cottage there is also Caister Castle and Motor Museum, as well as Burgh Castle, Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens and BeWILDerwood. Or you can enjoy what the East Norfolk coast has to offer right on the doorstep of this property, whether that be on two feet or wheels and enjoy a stroll on the Norfolk Coastal Path.
