Hempstead is a small and pretty village just two miles from the picturesque Georgian market town of Holt. The ruins of Baconsthorpe Castle can be found in the adjoining village and you can also walk to Selbrigg Lake where the River Glaven rises. Surrounded by the rolling countryside of the Holt ridge, it is an ideal place to explore and is great for cycling, walking and birdwatching. This part of Norfolk is a draw all year round for its coastal landscape, much of which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Holt is just a short drive away and is the place to visit for unique boutique shopping, a great food hall, antique and art galleries and numerous restaurants and cafes. For railway enthusiasts why not visit the North Norfolk Railway with traditional steam engines that run along this glorious stretch of coastline.
Lovely cottage. Excellent location. Loved West Runton beach. Great meal at the ‘Hunny Bell’. Thank you.
Thank you for a marvellous time here. We had so much fun exploring Norfolk and making up stories about the hole in the hedge - in the end we settled on the monster from Monsters Inc!
Thank you for a lovely holiday! We’ve had a lovely time visiting all the wonderful sights Norfolk has to offer and have felt very at home in the cottage. Henry, aged 2, especially loved the swings that are down the road and the ‘lovely view’ at the end of the garden.
Another great family holiday for us! We loved this house last time and it was equally good this time around.
Another really lovely week, our third stay in this fabulous cottage. Great meals out at the Honey Bell and The Pigs. So much to do here in Norfolk – our favourite place in the world. Thank you!
Enchanting cottage, such lovely evening light and late sun to enjoy a drink with the deer! Great location from which to walk or explore further with a car. Would love to come again.
Perfect cottage for our family get-together. Probably the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in and everything of a very high standard. Enjoyed the wood-burner one night and the children appreciated the choice of programmes on the smart TV!
A clean, well equipped house in an ideal location for visiting the surrounding countryside and coast. The house and garden had plenty of space for our family of 6 adults; lovely to sit outside watching the sun go down in this lovely quiet corner of Norfolk.
Thank you and happy new year 2022! It is a real wrench for us to leave this cosy cottage after such a special new year week. We've had a wonderful time exploring W Runton, Sheringham, Cley, Holt Country Park and Holkham. Highly recommend the Kings Head at Letheringsett. Lots of wildlife: owls, seabirds, a variety of deer and seals!
We’ve had a lovely time in this comfy, sweet cottage. The area is a favourite of ours. Everyone we’ve met has been so nice and friendly. LOVE NORFOLK!
The cottage is lovely. Has a beautiful garden, even in autumn. We could hear the owls and wildlife at night. Back house is very comfortable.
Lovely cottage – sooo comfortable. Enjoyed our stay. The North Norfolk coast and countryside is stunning and we have taken full advantage of what it has to offer with fabulous walks.
Enjoyed our stay in this welcoming, homely cottage. A relaxing and peaceful place to stay.
Very well equipped cottage – we even made scones! […] Listen for the owls!
We have had another fabulous week here in Norfolk. We love everything about this beautiful cottage and Norfolk has become our favourite place to be. Thank you!
We have had the best week in Norfolk. Garden perfect, West Runton beach brilliant and Hillside Horse Sanctuary great – we went twice! Click and collect fish and chips from Eric’s and lovely fish from Norfolk Fish Co in Holt. Weather made it! Thank you – hope to return.
Fabulous, very well equipped cottage, a real home from home in a beautiful, peaceful location. This was our second stay in Chapel cottage and we would love to go back again. Highly recommend.
