Cley-next-the-Sea is a charming, unspoilt coastal village on the beautiful North Norfolk coast, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The salt marshes and bird reserve have been in the care of the Norfolk Wildlife Trust since 1926, making it the oldest wildlife reserve in the UK. The village is exceptionally well served with two pubs, both serving food, a smokehouse, delicatessen, bookshop, gallery and café – all within walking distance. The iconic windmill is a landmark for this part of the coast and you can dine there in the evenings. Other lovely villages to explore along the coast are Blakeney and Morston, where you can catch a trip to see the seals, Wells-next-the-Sea with its wide, sandy beaches, pine wood walks and small gauge steam railway and Holkham with its deer park, great house and superb beach. The pretty Georgian market town of Holt is nearby with its eclectic mix of independent shops, art and antique galleries, cafes and restaurants. There is so much to do in the area – sailing at Blakeney, crabbing off Cromer Pier, seal trips from Morston, golf at Sheringham and eating out at good local restaurants including the Michelin starred Morston Hall.
