Property code: OC-2060

This sweet, traditional cottage is the perfect place for a family or couple to relax, close to the coast and everything in Blakeney with gorgeous walks and places of interest nearby. It has a south-facing patio and a large, enclosed, shared lawn for you and your canine companion to enjoy, plus the bonus of private parking for 1 car and additional parking at the Village Hall opposite if required.

Period features, like the old Range oven and Norfolk winder staircase, make this a charming place to stay, with contemporary additions for comfort. Soak into a comfy sofa in the spacious living/dining room, watch the Smart TV, and enjoy dining together at the table. The compact kitchen is well-appointed with everything needed for rustling up delicious meals, and the family bathroom is on the ground floor. Upstairs are the two bedrooms: a boho chic-style double and a lovely, smart twin room. Throw the door in the living area open and take your drinks out to the patio while the kids and Fido play on the large lawn.

Wander to The Quay to take the kids crabbing and pick up an ice cream to cool down in the summer sun. Book a boat trip to see the wonderful seals at Blakeney Point and venture out on the waters with the sailing club. Holkham beach (11 miles) is well worth visiting. You can walk all the way to Wells-next-the-Sea then walk back through the woods, where you may spot wild deer. Head to Weybourne (6 miles) home to the Muckleburgh Military Collection, and Weybourne station where you can hop on the North Norfolk Railway to Sheringham (9 miles) one way and Holt (5.5 miles) the other. Spend the day exploring Holt’s art galleries and antique shops, play golf at Sheringham Golf Club (9 miles) and visit the Doggie Diner at Cromer (14 miles).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Blakeney. The cottage is located within a very short distance of the harbour. The local Spa is well stocked and the Kings Arms is very welcoming. I parked my car in the free car park just across the road after unloading our luggage next to the cottage.

I find relatively little difference between the services offered by different holiday cottage companies, so would hesitate to recommend any ones in particular. Our choice of company is determined by the specific properties they have available. I would mention some points that I feel need addressing at Reeve Cottage. (1) The shower head is in desperRead moreate need of either descaling or replacement. (2) Three out of four of the electric heaters are different models from the one covered by the owner's handbook that was provided. They appeared to be only adjustable remotely, via an app. Because the weather was cool for most of our stay, we would have liked to have been able to turn up the heaters' temperature a little but were unable to do so. (3) I note that you recommend that guests' cars are reversed into the parking space. I think you need to specify that they must be reversed in. My car (a Toyota Prius) could only negotiate the access in reverse and then only by driving through the overgrown shrubs on the eastern side of the access route. (An initial attempt to enter the car park in forward gear proved absolutely impossible, due to the geometry of the route). If the car parking space is to be a selling point for Reeve Cottage then the vegetation needs to be cut right back to the boundary wall. In the event, it was such a hassle using the parking space that we parked our car across at the Village Hall most of the time (which I know you mention as an alternative but wouldn't have been necessary if the access route to Reeve's own parking space had been better maintained).
