So much about this fabulous property is unique, from the grand piano in the equally grand lounge to the bed that’s reputed to have belonged to King George III. Located close to the market town of Reepham, it’s an intriguing and exciting destination for friends, families and two canine companions wanting to holiday in style.

A tree-lined drive leads you to this Regency-era holiday apartment. Gather in the kitchen/diner, a sociable space with a sofa, vintage pinball machine, TV and unique kitchen area - it’s compact but has everything you’ll need to whip up delicious meals. For a lazy evening around the wood burner you can move into the lounge, which is adorned with gilt-framed works of art and furnished with antiques. Read a book, listen to music, or even play the gorgeous piano. On the first floor you’ll find three glorious bedrooms, two of which have en-suite shower rooms, ornamental fireplaces and TV/DVDs. One of these has the very special “King’s travelling bed” from around 1782, a carved wooden bed with imposing presence, and the other a lovely four-poster swathed with sheer fabric. The remaining bedroom has a raised-level, built-in, small double bed (one side is against the wall, so may be better for children) and a family bathroom. In terms of outside space, the enclosed garden has a large lawn and garden furniture with a BBQ, as well as a circular pond.

The house is located in the hamlet of Whitwell, just 1.5 miles from the Georgian town of Reepham, which has shops, a pub and a range of places to eat. It’s 8 miles from the start of Marriott’s Way, 26 miles of wonderful walking and cycling that stretches from Aylsham to Norwich, while the fabulous seaside resort of Sheringham is 18.5 miles.

  • 3 bedrooms - 1 small double, 1 king-size, 1 king-size, four-poster bed

This stunning property truly is excellent, absolutely everything had been considered for the guests from the moment of arrival. We found the property to be very welcoming, comfortable and attractive (very photogenic). There is a huge lawned area for the dogs and adults to play (ideal for cricket) and eat outside! We loved the historical house and wooded country surroundings. The pigs were fun neighbours and a handy Coop shop is only a short car ride way. The house was nicelRead morey furnished and ideally placed for a wide variety of days out. For example, visits to the seaside (Cromer, Overstrand and Sheringham) and taking the steam train. We visited the National Trust Blickling Estate - which has an amazing history, garden and second hand book shop. We also rented a day boat and went out on the Broads. Locally, we would recommend the All Day Brewing barn. Norwich Cathedral was a good trip too as they are dog friendly. We would definitely recommend this property and we may return! Hide

One of my favourite holiday cottages. Properly dog friendly with secure large garden-dogs not allowed on beds which is fair. Clean, great water pressures in showers, comfy massive bedrooms. Just perfect.

Had a fantastic time in Norfolk staying at White House. A lovely period property beautifully looked after. The garden area was great and very secure for our two dogs. A nice welcome message along with some bubbly, bread, milk etc left by the owners was a lovely surprise. Would definitely book again.

We had a wonderful stay at the White House for two adults and our three daughters (aged 10, 7 and 4). The reception room had a beautiful grand piano and wood-burning stove which we enjoyed playing and using. The kitchen is compact and well-equipped with everything thought-through, and the girls really enjoyed playing Golden Axe on the arcade machinRead moree. The bedrooms were well designed with en-suite bathrooms in the two front rooms and a separate bathroom for the back bedroom. Our daughters loved the bedrooms with the four-poster bed and raised ship-style bed. The girls also loved meeting the two cute pigs! We felt very well taken care of by our hosts and had a great break. Hide

Apart from being such a lovely house in pleasant spacious grounds, the written personalised welcome in the kitchen and the chilled champagne on arrival said so much about how our hosts really valued their guests.

This is a really out of the ordinary cottage - you feel like you are staying in the state rooms of a stately home. So full of history and character. But cleverly adapted so its really comfortable and has all you need for a great stay. Big garden too, well away from the road. And for cyclists like us, we were able to join the Marriotts Way just up tRead morehe lane at its midway point and have three great cycle rides, to Aylsham, Norwich and round the Themelthorpe loop. The owners were also very helpful both before and during our stay. Thank you! Hide
