The quiet village of Shereford is an ideal location from which to discover the beauty of the Norfolk countryside. Located 3 miles from the market town of Fakenham, which has plenty of facilities including a weekly market, cinema, bowling centre and retail shops. The house is only 20 minutes from the popular North Norfolk coast, much of which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Nearby Sculthorpe has a fabulous fenland Nature Reserve, which is home to the Hawk and Owl Trust; the whole site is accessed via a Broadwalk and is a super place to observe a wide variety of bird and wildlife. The Georgian town of Burnham Market is a popular village to explore; on the way, drive through North Creake and explore the Abbey ruins and Creake Abbey Farm Shop and Cafe. Stately homes abound with Houghton Hall, Sandringham and Holkham in the area. The Holkham estate is one of only a few privately owned estates in the country and a visit to the Hall, Deer Park and its spectacular beach makes a great day out. The sandy beaches of Wells, Hunstanton and Holme are a short distance by car and of course there is excellent birdwatching at both Titchwell and Holme nature reserves. Pensthorpe Natural Park, as featured in BBC's Springwatch, is only a few miles away and is a great family day out.

Reviews

Our stay at The Hayloft was very enjoyable and family friendly. It is in a very convenient location to visit places like Blakeney where the children loved crabbing, Holkham Hall was another lovely find, as well as Sandringham. The town of Holt was good for shopping, especially the department store of Bakers and Larners who stocked plenty of prepared meals to choose from. Lots of good eating places, although it was lovely being able to sit out in the evening at The Hayloft. We certainly would love to return some time.

Mr P,

The Hayloft is a fabulous place for a family holiday. The location is ideal for anyone looking for a relaxing stay in North Norfolk. It feels wonderfully remote and rural but its close to Fakenham for shops and restaurants and easy to get to the coast for beaches and walks. The barn is comfortable and well equipped - we would definitely recommend it!

Ms S,

A really lovely property & we were made to feel so welcome. Fantastic location for some lovely cycling around such quiet lanes and a real thrill to see so many hares, pheasants and deer.

Mrs H,

As a family of four with two energetic boys, things to do, property location and privacy are important to us. Surrounding this property, a partly converted barn, the walks in the countryside were right on the doorstep with deer and wildlife all around us. The property itself is spacious and very well presented and tastefully decorated, and is ideally located to explore the region. The barn is very well designed and the kitchen has all the mod cons you will need. The vast sandy beaches at Holkham and Brancaster were a 25 min drive, and Wells next the Sea had lots of activities to keep the kids busy. There are many good restaurants on the coast to choose from if you tire of fish and chips.. As the property sits in a slight valley, mobile signal and broadband speed are very weak, this provided the additional advantage of conversations rather than screen time between the family members (remember those days)?. Happy to recommend this property for families or couples who wish to get away from the throbbing metropolis, enjoy some privacy /fresh air and explore the beautiful Norfolk Countryside.

Mr P,
