Built in around 1860 this former school and headmasters house, was converted into three homes in 1980, number three is at the northerly end and over the last year has undergone a further extensive renovation making it a spacious, comfortable home. The character has been retained, with high ceilings, exposed beams and original door steps that have been worn my hundreds of little feet over the years. The former school room is now the main living area with comfy seating around the fire, a large dining table and chairs for lazy meals and the musical among you can entertain everyone on the upright piano. There are super views over the surrounding farmland from the house and garden, deer can often be seen, while overhead buzzards and red kites soar. An attractive garden surrounds the property with a couple of seating areas perfect for alfresco dining. Shops/Pubs: 2 miles

The village of Matlaske is set in delightful rolling countryside ideal for walking and cycling. Just five miles due south of the seaside town of Sheringham and a mere four miles from the historic Georgian market town of Holt. Baconsthorpe with its castle is a neighbouring village and the castle is well worth a visit. Itteringham is another nearby village and has a well-stocked shop selling local produce and the village pub/restaurant is a great place for lunch or dinner. Blicking Hall, a beautiful National Trust property is also close by, the hall, gardens and parkland are all great places to visit, cycle hire is available here and the lake provides a tranquil place to watch the world go by or to do a spot of fishing.
Fantastic property - spacious house in a great location with a beautiful garden. We absolutely loved staying here and enjoyed having family over for a BBQ in the garden. The owners provided a lovely welcome basket which was full of Norfolk-based items which was really thoughtful. Would definitely stay again
Characterful property in a quiet location but close to lots of places to visit. The house was lovely, spacious, clean and eclectic mix of furniture and styles. We thoroughly enjoyed our week here and would not hesitate to recommend.
What a treat to be able to stay in this lovely cottage at the end of lockdown! We had so much fun visiting friends and having Tapas at the Walpole Arms. Such a special part of Norfolk. We can’t wait to come back.
We had a great week and even got out on the tandem! The house is a perfect haven from today’s strife and ideal for luxurious social isolation. Many thanks.
Wonderful house, perfect for our setup with newbie! Visited Holt, Happisburgh, Cromer, West Runton and Sheringham. Weather was atrocious in parts but hunkering down in this house was fantastic!! We will be back
Absolutely loved Blakeney, Holkham Beach when the sun was shining and some great local walks, Walpole Arms and the fantastic town of Holt. Enjoying this beautiful house and fab garden in an unbelievable setting was the core of a wonderous holiday.
Loved the house, stylish and comfortable. We had a very relaxing stay in a lovely part of the world. We will be back to explore, loved Wells and Holkham. Would like to see more....
