Built in around 1860 this former school and headmasters house, was converted into three homes in 1980, number three is at the northerly end and over the last year has undergone a further extensive renovation making it a spacious, comfortable home. The character has been retained, with high ceilings, exposed beams and original door steps that have been worn my hundreds of little feet over the years. The former school room is now the main living area with comfy seating around the fire, a large dining table and chairs for lazy meals and the musical among you can entertain everyone on the upright piano. There are super views over the surrounding farmland from the house and garden, deer can often be seen, while overhead buzzards and red kites soar. An attractive garden surrounds the property with a couple of seating areas perfect for alfresco dining. Shops/Pubs: 2 miles

The village of Matlaske is set in delightful rolling countryside ideal for walking and cycling. Just five miles due south of the seaside town of Sheringham and a mere four miles from the historic Georgian market town of Holt. Baconsthorpe with its castle is a neighbouring village and the castle is well worth a visit. Itteringham is another nearby village and has a well-stocked shop selling local produce and the village pub/restaurant is a great place for lunch or dinner. Blicking Hall, a beautiful National Trust property is also close by, the hall, gardens and parkland are all great places to visit, cycle hire is available here and the lake provides a tranquil place to watch the world go by or to do a spot of fishing.
We had a great week and even got out on the tandem! The house is a perfect haven from today’s strife and ideal for luxurious social isolation. Many thanks.
Absolutely loved Blakeney, Holkham Beach when the sun was shining and some great local walks, Walpole Arms and the fantastic town of Holt. Enjoying this beautiful house and fab garden in an unbelievable setting was the core of a wonderous holiday.
Wonderful house, perfect for our setup with newbie! Visited Holt, Happisburgh, Cromer, West Runton and Sheringham. Weather was atrocious in parts but hunkering down in this house was fantastic!! We will be back
Loved the house, stylish and comfortable. We had a very relaxing stay in a lovely part of the world. We will be back to explore, loved Wells and Holkham. Would like to see more....
We loved this property! So quirky and beautiful. We know Norfolk we and a great spot to explore from. We will be back!
What a wonderful house! We celebrated our twins 4th birthday whilst here and have had such a good holiday. We took the steam train from Sheringham and even rode with the driver! We went to Cromer and Pretty Corner Woods as well as West Run-on Beach. All was brilliant. Thank you so much.
Many thanks for a relaxing stay.
A really lovely time enjoyed by all the family in the hottest Bank Holiday on record! The cottage was amazingly cool despite the 30º C temperature outside. Beautiful scenic location with outstanding rural views of the countryside. Everything in the cottage worked perfectly. An excellent break in a wonderful location.
Thank you. We’ve had a brilliant time at the Old School House, its beautiful inside and out! We’ve been seal watching at Morston, hired a boat on the Broads (Wroxham boat hire), been to Holkham beach, Sheringham and Cromer! Had a lovely meal that the Walpole Arms - huge burgers! Thank you again.
