St Lawrence House is a classic 19th Century brick and flint house having been tastefully renovated with modern amenities yet retaining simple charm and character. Located close to the villages’ 14th Century Church and The Rose & Crown country pub, St Lawrence House is a perfect place for celebrations with family and friends. Boasting a stunning dining hall; ideal for dinner parties conjuring up a feast of magnificent suppers whilst the soft embers glow giving a cosy feel in winter and a sense of extra cosiness from the large open fire. Wonderfully spacious throughout the downstairs has a large family room with double and single bed and a further three double bedrooms on the first floor all adorned with crisp white cotton bedding and soft throws. The garden room is perfect for breakfast with the children with additional dining space or relaxation place, the lantern roof allows the light to flood in, perfect for quiet contemplation and observing the children explore the delights of the walled garden. Harpley is ideally situated for those who wish to explore the stunning Norfolk Coast, walk the Peddars Way or visit some of the properties close-by such as Holkham Hall and the majestic Sandringham House. The village itself is surrounded by green lanes and is located just 2 miles from Houghton Hall whom often host a variety of events and exhibitions throughout the year. The neighbouring village of Great Massingham is popular with visitors to the area as well as locals too; enjoy a spot of lunch at the Dabbling Duck; set in the picturesque village where the village is divided by two charming duck ponds. There is also a village shop, ideal for those last minute essentials. Also nearby, (approximately 3 miles), are the attractive villages of West & East Rudham, featuring The Dukes Head Tham’s restaurant and bar (speciality Chinese cuisine), The Crown Inn (Contemporary English) and Jane’s Coffee Corner for light meals & snacks for all the family. A little further afield is the popular year round destination of Castle Acre, with an ancient priory to encounter as well as the fascinating castle ruins built by the Norman’s in the 12th Century. The nearby North Norfolk coastline has a number of stunning beaches to visit, explore the coastal paths and trails or take your four-legged friends to one of the many dog-friendly beaches with those at Brancaster, Holkham and Old Hunstanton popular amongst dog walkers.
The house and garden were really great, very well equipped,clean, spacious and comfortable. The whole family really enjoyed our stay especially the 4 children. Thank you.
Fabulous property, great for a family trip away with so much to offer. Open plan living/kitchen accommodation was great and though we barely used the main living room, study or dining hall, it was great to have that additional extra space. Safe secure garden for the kids and plenty of off road parking. Village quiet and slightly off beaten track but lovely place to base our stay in north Norfolk.
