Great Ryburgh is a small, rural village with a general store with post office, a local pub that serves meals and fish & chip shop. The River Wensum flows through the village and national cycle route thirteen passes close by making this an ideal location for cyclists and walkers. Pensthorpe Natural Park, as featured in BBC's Springwatch, is only a few miles away and the beaches and marshes of the Norfolk coast are a short drive making this area ideal for birdwatchers and anyone who enjoys the great outdoors. If you love the water, but the sandy beaches aren’t for you then the Norfolk Broads is the place to go with boat hire, water sports, fishing (subject to licence) and cycle hire available. Thursford, only seven miles away, is home to one of the world's most significant steam and fairground museums, The Thursford Collection, which also hosts a spectacular Christmas show each year. If there are children with you then head to Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure; a dinosaur based theme park in Lenwade. For those in need of retail therapy the market town of Fakenham and its racecourse is approximately three miles to the south east and Holt with all its pretty shops, cafes and restaurants is an easy drive away.
