This attractive cottage is nestled in the historic heart of the thriving market town of Aylsham. Built in the 1850s and within walking distance of the River Bure, the cottage retains plenty of character and is surrounded by some particularly attractive properties of architectural note. Offering a warm welcome, the cottage exudes an elegant interior that makes you feel comfortable and instantly at home with plenty of space for everyone to enjoy.

Enter at the ground floor level and discover the elegant sitting room with its beamed ceiling and incredible brick hearth which houses a wood burner-effect electric fire. There’s comfortable seating, a Smart TV with a Blu-ray player, and a DAB radio too. The cosy dining room has room for six and it’s here that you can enjoy meals that have been freshly prepared in the kitchen which has all the mod cons you’ll; need. The kitchen also has a door to the garden. This is an enclosed space with a lawned area, a summer house, garden furniture and a charcoal BBQ. There’s also outside storage for bikes in the side alley. Head up the stairs to the first floor where you’ll find the two bedrooms and a shower room. Waking up to birdsong in the king-size bed will be a treat not easily forgotten, and the cute twin is perfect for kids. The shower room has underfloor heating and a walk-in shower, perfect for morning rejuvenation.

Aylsham is a lovely market town where you can find a good range of shops, cafes, pubs and other facilities; it still runs a general market on Mondays and Fridays and the town is a great launch pad for discovering the numerous attractions of North Norfolk’s landscape, much of which is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Nearby attractions include Blickling Hall and Park (2 miles) with a vast lake and over 950 acres of woodland and parkland. The Bure Valley Railway starts at Aylsham and runs a steam engine to neighbouring Wroxham (11.5 miles), where you can explore 125 miles of waterways within The Broads National Park. The coastal resort of Cromer with its famous pier and seaside shops is 11 miles to the north and travelling along the main coastal road in either direction means you will come to many pretty, traditional, Norfolk villages and diverse stunning scenery.

Lovely cottage in quaint and interesting historical market town. Plenty of local shopping and places to eat with easy access to the coast. Good bus service going into Norwich and to the coast at Cromer and Sheringham. The cottage is well equipped and an ideal holiday base.

Wren Cottage is a little gem. We found it to be perfect for our needs, which was a short break for a family of four. It was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished. We did experience a problem with the shower and had noticed a damp patch on the ceiling when we first arrived. This, however, was the only negative.

A lovely cottage with everything you need for a week away - the kitchen was well equipped, it felt like being at home. The living room and bedrooms were comfortable and plenty of space for clothes and toiletries etc. The cottage is a perfect location for exploring Norfolk, plus just a short walk to the town made it even more enjoyable. I loved the Read morewelcome guide, as I think a lot of holiday rentals now do away with them but they are so useful with emergency details, local doctors etc, and suggestion of places to visit. And for those going with children, there's a really good playground and skate park about 10 minutes on foot. Needless to say we loved staying. Hide
