Aylsham is an attractive, thriving historic market town situated on the River Bure in the heart of the Norfolk countryside, yet only a few miles from the coast at Cromer. Home to the Bure Valley Steam Railway and just a couple of miles from Blickling Hall and Felbrigg, two of the county's well known National Trust properties. Weekly auctions are held in its sale rooms and are definitely worth a visit. Marriott's Way is a super off-road cycle and walking path, which follows the old railway line on the edge of the town.
3 Pound Lane is an excellent location. We walked to the Bure Valley Railway and took the train to Wroxham (The Broads). We walked to Blickling Hall National Trust on footpaths over cornfields. The property was spotless with a beautiful rear garden. We sat at the kitchen table with the french doors open and enjoyed our breakfasts and dinners. It was perfect. The market town of Aylsham is well worth a visit and this cottage is ideal to enhance and complete the experience. I thoroughly recommend it.
A very clean and comfortable well equipped cottage that we instantly felt at home in and a large private garden to sit in during our sunny stay. The Feathers pub across the road was welcoming especially their outdoor beer garden and no late night noise to disturb us. Only a five minute walk into Aylsham town centre, which has numerous supermarkets and weekly Monday market. 2 National Trust properties nearby and only a 30 minute drive to Norwich and the North Norfolk coast. We would highly recommend this property and hope to return some time in the future.
Lovely cottage, very clean and comfortable. Quiet location even though so close to local pub. Ideally situated in pretty town of Aylsham which has really good selection of shops and great Teashops and specialist cheese shop. Midway between the fine city of Norwich and seaside towns of Cromer and Sheringham the cottage was perfectly situated.
Aylsham is a lovely town/village and so close to Cromer, various National Trust properties, Norwich and the coast. The cottage has everything you would need and felt welcoming from the minute we walked in the door. The local garage gave swift and efficient service when we had a puncture. Would stay again if ever in the area again.
This cottage is immaculate. Spotlessly clean, lovely bed linen, towels ect. First class appliances in the kitchen. Everything in the cottage you could possibly want. Really comfortable. Would stay here again without hesitation
We stayed in the cottage as a couple and found it to be very comfortable and well equipped. It was very cosy and warm with plenty of hot water. The garden was beautiful and it made our stay very peaceful and relaxing sitting out at one of the 3 seating areas in the sunshine watching all the birdlife coming and going. The only problem we encountered was the tv reception ( we were only able to watch the bbc channels) as the rest of the stations were breaking up.Also a better DVD player would enable guests to watch a dvd in the evenings,as the current player had volume issues and a constant buzzing noise.Replacing these items would make future guests stays more relaxing. We found Aylsham to be a hidden gem of interesting things to discover - with a good selection of shops as well as historic buildings and good local walks. We would certainly like to visit again in the future.Mr & Mrs Cook
