Hoveton and Wroxham are joined villages set within the Broads National Park. The Broads were formed from the natural flooding of ancient peat workings and form a network of lakes joined by rivers. Several of the Broads are sites of special scientific interest. The narrow-gage Bure Valley Railway runs almost within sight of the property. The craft and play centres of Wroxham Barns are a mile away along a dedicated footway. Roys of Wroxham, 'the biggest village store in the world' is within walking distance although plentiful free parking is also available. The Roys’ stores provide an extensive range of clothing and food including most things you will need. There are several other shops, restaurants and takeaways which provide a good variety of food and souvenir options. The Broads are a great place to set sail into the wild yonder! Hire a boat or a canoe or book some sailing tuition on Wroxham Broad. The local landscape offers great opportunity for cycling (on quiet country roads) as well as walking, wildlife and birdwatching. Fishing is also a popular local activity (subject to licence). The nearby east coast of Norfolk is around 8 miles away offering lovely walks, sand and seals at certain times of the year. The North Norfolk coast offers further attractions such as Cromer Pier and the Poppy Line steam train which runs from Sheringham to Holt. If you crave more action hop on the train to Norwich (under 10 miles away) for theatres, museums and shops. You can also visit National Trust properties at Blickling and Felbrigg Halls for a cultural day out or try other museums such as the award-winning Time and Tide museum in Great Yarmouth.
