Horning is a lovely picturesque village at the heart of the Norfolk Broads. Known fondly as “The Jewel of the Norfolk Broads” It functions like a mini version of Wroxham and is found on the Northern bank of the River Bure and South of the River Thurne.
The name Horning actually means “Folk who live on the high ground between the rivers.” If you fancy exploring the miles of waterways, there are many boating companies where you can hire various types of boats – all hire companies will provide you with general instructions and safety advice, along with advising you on the best river routes to take for you to enjoy your trip the most.

Cycling is becoming an even more popular pastime in and around the Broads – understandably with the wonderful countryside through meandering lanes, winding rivers, woodlands, and fens, to explore, you can even hire cycles from Broadland Cycle Hire and they will deliver a variety of bicycles directly to your holiday cottage.
