A “real home from home” The Gig House is a traditional, Georgian brick and Flint cottage converted from a stable and carriage store, hence the name. It has been fully modernised to provide charming, rustic accommodation whilst keeping all original features including: wooden beams, flint walls, pitched ceilings, exposed wood and a fireplace made from Norfolk red bricks. Close to the Owners’ house, set in several acres of mature gardens; this pretty cottage has the sole use of a half-acre paddock, which is a real suntrap throughout the day. Here you can sit in complete privacy, hearing only the rustle of leaves on sixty-foot poplar trees whilst enjoying glorious Norfolk sunsets and sunrises. Perfect for all times of the year with a sheltered garden and a log burner for the cooler evenings. The Gig House is located in a truly peaceful, rural setting, positioned on the edge of the small village of Ridlington and completely surrounded by farmland. A great place to return to after having fun on one of the nearby sandy beaches or exploring this vibrant, beautiful area of Norfolk. Unspoiled country living right by the sea yet close enough to all amenities. Shop/Pub: less than one mile away.

The small village of Ridlington nestles peacefully into the rural Norfolk landscape between the Sea and the Broads. The long, un-crowded beaches within walking distance of the Gig House, have recently being transformed by an extensive sandscaping scheme into deep sandy beaches that are wider and easier to access. Also the blue flag beaches of Mundesley and Sea Palling are only a short drive away, as are the historic market towns of North Walsham and Stalham. The Victorian seaside town of Cromer and the vibrant city of Norwich both prove popular day trips from this location and there are also many National Trust properties and family attractions to enjoy. This quiet, unspoiled part of Norfolk is renowned for big skies, wide open spaces, iconic lighthouses, stunning windmills and majestic Norman churches but there are plenty of pretty towns and villages, wooded walks and country pubs to discover as well. Cyclists and walkers can easily access the 63 mile North Norfolk Coastal Path, which is only a short walk from the property, and there are bird watching, fishing, canoeing and boating opportunities in the Norfolk Broads. Another very popular activity is seal watching all year round on Horsey Beach, particularly during December and January when the seal pups are born. This is the perfect location for a traditional bucket and spade holiday, an active break, or a chance to just relax and let the world go by.

We absolutely loved your Cottage, thank you! A Smith

Past Customer,

Thanks for a great stay in your Lovely Gig House! The Bell Family

Mr Graham B,

Peter and Trish, just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our stay at the Gig House last week and to thank you for the goodies provided for the dogs and the lemon drizzle, delicious. The location was perfect for us and we had some great walks around the lanes and fields. We also managed to fit in a trip on the Bure Valley railway and hire a day boat on the broads. Lots more to see and do so I’m sure we will be back! Thank you once again. Mr and Mrs Evans

Mr Roy E,

The cottage was lovely and we all loved our stay. Everything was spot on and we enjoyed every part of the holiday. Thank you.

Alex B,

A fab stay here in the Gig House, everything you needed for a comfortable stay! We walked everyday as the weather was kind. So much to see and do in the surrounding area and we were very grateful for the maps in the cottage as they gave us so many options. The Coast is lovely for bracing walks and the Broads give a lovely relaxing atmosphere.

Jackie S,

We just wanted to let you know how very much we enjoyed our week at the Gig House. It was perfect! The owners have made it into a real home-from-home; it was very much like a smaller version of our own home. We hope to be able to book again next year but my husband has said that we will need more then a week next time! I highly recommend The Gig House, Ridlington. Top quality equipment, decor & furnishings. Very quiet location yet only a mile from the beach. Dog friendly too and very thoughtful owners.

Jo H,

Thanks for a lovely week at the Gig House - what a wonderful property and great cake!

Previous Customer,

Perfect for a pooch. Cosy, quiet, warm cottage - perfect for two on a short break. Pooch loved the garden, walks and beach and we loved the location, beaches and nearby villages and towns. Thank you for such a warm welcome!

The Henry Party,

We have had a fabulous week in the lovely Gig House. Great trips; the weather has been superb and we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Thank you.

David A,

An extremely, welcoming helpful host. Great enclosed garden for children/dogs!

Ms Jane M,

We have had a great stay in this cosy cottage exploring the local countryside. All aspects of the cottage have been brilliant - inside and out! The cake was much appreciated after our long journey and Ginny, our lurcher, has enjoyed chomping on top quality treats all week! Thank you for the lovely welcome.

The M Party,

We've enjoyed a lovely stay at the Gig House. It is by far the best, most well-equipped cottage that we have ever stayed at! The weather has been brilliant and we've enjoyed lots of beach days. Thank you for the lovely Information pack that was very much appreciated and thanks also for the warm welcome and yummy cake, which was devoured in record time!

Sarah S,

Fabulous stay! Absolutely loved the cottage and Trish's Lemon Drizzle Cake and couldn't believe how empty the beaches are; Stanley loved his walks along them and enjoyed seeing the seals. Everywhere is so dog friendly and people friendly also. Loved seeing the pair of green woodpeckers in the garden. Thank you!

Previous Customer,

Everything inside and outside of the Gig House is totally amazing and what can you say about our great hosts? Unfortunately we didn't meet Peter, but Trish is the type who would do anything for you - the welcome cake and treats for our mini-schnauzer so very thoughtful. We had a fabulous holiday taking Eadie to as many beaches as we could and visiting family and friends down the Coast. A HUGE thank you, we had a wonderful time!

Previous Customer,

Friendly helpful hosts, peaceful location, good property for dog owners.

Mrs Jean G,

Lovely, comfortable, well equipped cottage and thank you for the cake and dog treats! An oasis of peace to explore this beautiful area. Everyone is so friendly and chatty and we loved the ancient churches plus exploring the unspoilt beaches. Thank you x

Colin G,

The Gig House was perfect for us and our 2 dogs. Trish made us ALL feel very welcome, leaving us humans a homemade cake and the dogs their own treats, bowls and towels. The cottage was spotlessly clean with everything we could have wanted. We were unlucky with the weather but during a VERY wet afternoon, Trish popped over with some homemade scones, butter and jam. Very kind and thoughtful. All in all, a perfect little cottage set in beautiful countryside.

Mr Jon W,

The Gig House had everything we could have wished for and even though the weather hasn't been kind, we've thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area and coming "home" to this cosy cottage! The lemon drizzle cake and the thoughtful scones on a soggy wet day were gratefully received.

Jon W,

Thank you Trish and Peter. Had a great week. So quiet and peaceful! The cottage was most comfortable and equipped with everything one could need and you extended a very warm welcome, which we much appreciated!

Lyn W,

We have had a lovely stay in this cottage. Yummy cake, thank you and it was nice to see the deer in the garden - all lovely!!

Vincent W,

Lovely property and the area is gorgeous!

Zoe K,

Lovely cottage and so well equipped and looked after. We were so lucky with the weather; visited many nice places and enjoyed good pub food. Thank you for the yummy cake. Molly had a great time too and loved her treats - woof! All very much appreciated, thank you.

Vivienne B,

Thank you for a lovely stay in your beautiful cottage - we very much hope to be back!

Kevin W,

We've had a lovely few days here! A very comfortable and cosy base from which to explore this charming and unspoilt part of East Anglia. Highlights include the cottage garden and the hearty wood burner! Thanks for fitting us in at such short notice!

James T,

Lovely property, lovely people that own it and they couldn’t have been more helpful.

Mrs Laura P,

We have just had a beautiful Easter weekend at the Gig House. Trish made us so welcome. The place is so well equipped and I have never stayed anywhere so spotless! The enclosed sun trap garden was enjoyed by the dogs, and the welcome hamper for them was such a nice touch... as was the homemade lemon drizzle cake! Trish and Peter deserve every success... what lovely people. Thanks. We'll be back!

Mrs S B,

Perfect place to relax and unwind. Felt like a home away from home and would love to rent again. Owners very helpful and great location.
