A “real home from home” The Gig House is a traditional, Georgian brick and Flint cottage converted from a stable and carriage store, hence the name. It has been fully modernised to provide charming, rustic accommodation whilst keeping all original features including: wooden beams, flint walls, pitched ceilings, exposed wood and a fireplace made from Norfolk red bricks. Close to the Owners’ house, set in several acres of mature gardens; this pretty cottage has the sole use of a half-acre paddock, which is a real suntrap throughout the day. Here you can sit in complete privacy, hearing only the rustle of leaves on sixty-foot poplar trees whilst enjoying glorious Norfolk sunsets and sunrises. Perfect for all times of the year with a sheltered garden and a log burner for the cooler evenings. The Gig House is located in a truly peaceful, rural setting, positioned on the edge of the small village of Ridlington and completely surrounded by farmland. A great place to return to after having fun on one of the nearby sandy beaches or exploring this vibrant, beautiful area of Norfolk. Unspoiled country living right by the sea yet close enough to all amenities. Shop/Pub: less than one mile away.

The small village of Ridlington nestles peacefully into the rural Norfolk landscape between the Sea and the Broads. The long, un-crowded beaches within walking distance of the Gig House, have recently being transformed by an extensive sandscaping scheme into deep sandy beaches that are wider and easier to access. Also the blue flag beaches of Mundesley and Sea Palling are only a short drive away, as are the historic market towns of North Walsham and Stalham. The Victorian seaside town of Cromer and the vibrant city of Norwich both prove popular day trips from this location and there are also many National Trust properties and family attractions to enjoy. This quiet, unspoiled part of Norfolk is renowned for big skies, wide open spaces, iconic lighthouses, stunning windmills and majestic Norman churches but there are plenty of pretty towns and villages, wooded walks and country pubs to discover as well. Cyclists and walkers can easily access the 63 mile North Norfolk Coastal Path, which is only a short walk from the property, and there are bird watching, fishing, canoeing and boating opportunities in the Norfolk Broads. Another very popular activity is seal watching all year round on Horsey Beach, particularly during December and January when the seal pups are born. This is the perfect location for a traditional bucket and spade holiday, an active break, or a chance to just relax and let the world go by.
We have had a lovely week away staying in your gorgeous little cottage (despite the weather). It is well-equipped and your hospitality has been much appreciated! The wildlife just in the garden alone has been worth the visit - deer, partridge, etc. and seeing the seals whilst walking on the beach was amazing! You certainly have a little gem here, thank you for having us.
A great week's stay in this lovely cottage. The weather didn't deter us from going on the beach every day - fossil hunting to Overstrand - found some brilliant ones! So comfy and cosy here; we did not want for anything more. Thank you for the cake - a lovely welcome after a long journey. We hope to be back again at some point, thank you!
Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our stay at the Gig House last week and to thank you for the goodies provided for the dogs and the lemon drizzle, delicious. The location was perfect for us and we had some great walks around the lanes and fields. We also managed to fit in a trip on the Bure Valley railway and hire a day boat on the broads. Lots more to see and do so I’m sure we will be back! Thank you once again.
Thanks for a great stay in your Lovely Gig House!
We absolutely loved your Cottage, thank you!
