Self-catering holiday cottages in Happisburgh

Happisburgh (pronounced Hazeboro) is a delightful seaside village on the North Norfolk Coast. It's of considerable historic charm with many quirky thatched cottages and a handsome church, whose tower top is accessible to visitors - if you dare to brave the dizzy heights!

It is an instantly recognisable place thanks to its distinctive red and white banded lighthouse, which is open to the public during the summer months and is the oldest working lighthouse in East Anglia. The village was put on the map back in 1990 when the repainting of the lighthouse became the object of a challenge for the “Challenge Anneka” television programme.

There are some lovely coastal and rural walks in the area, notably the cliff-top path is beautiful on a crisp winter’s day when the sea is at its wildest, and will certainly blow the cobwebs away. Stay in one of our Happisburgh holiday homes for a break by the sea or find rural accommodation in the surrounding countryside. The village pub - The Hill House - serves good quality beer, home-cooked food including a Sunday Carvery, and breakfasts every day. The nearby coastal village of Mundesley is a scenic spot, popular with families for its clean sandy beach and calm waters. Here you will also find a selection of shops and eateries.

Despite being on the coast you are only a short drive away from the capital of the Broads, Wroxham. While here, pop by Roys of Wroxham, known locally as “probably the largest village shop in the world!”, enjoy a trip to Wroxham Barns, which is a great day out for all ages, or take the opportunity to explore the Norfolk Broads further by boat. This is a great location for a self-catering holiday cottage getaway.
