Bacton is an excellent location for a seaside holiday, with a sandy beach, excellent for summer days on the sands or long walks in winter. There is a good range of local amenities including a dog friendly pub, shop, a children's playground, a local swimming pool for hire and bowling green. A traditional fish & chip shop and licensed cafés. Bacton Wood is perfect for a day out with nature whether you are on foot or cycle with three walking trails to choose from. There is plenty to discover in the area - to the north find Cromer and its iconic Pier with year-round shows, golf in Mundesley and tennis in North Walsham and to the south, find the famously striped Happisburgh lighthouse and the local seal colony at Horsey Beach; visit over the winter and you will see seal pups too. Inland, The Broads National Park with 125 miles of waterways to discover is within easy reach and the hinterland in this part of Norfolk also makes great cycling country. Culture vultures will enjoy a trip to Norwich, which is also within easy reach.
"This was an early family Christmas gathering! Three different branches of our family enjoyed three wonderful nights in this beautifully appointed property. Everything was carefully thought out and plenty of room for a family of 14 to enjoy. The beach was the icing on the cake and we would love to return in the Summer months. Thank you!"
What a wonderful home for our 50th birthday celebrations. Perfect house for a stay with friends in a luxury surrounding. Well situated for visits to Cromer, walks and cycling, although we really didn't need to leave! Favourite activities were Karaoke in the bar and walking on the beach. Owners were so accommodating and helpful. Thank you!
Property suited our large group very well for a long, relaxing weekend in quality accommodation.
This is a great house for getting everyone together. The hot tub and bar were great hits and having the beach on our doorstep was lovely - swimming in October! We had a great meal at The Lighthouse and walks in the woods, day trip to Cromer and Mundesley. Felbrigg Hall is a great place to visit - kicking Autumn leaves and afternoon tea! Our highlights, though, were swimming in the sea and having the whole family together! Thank you from us all!
Just wanted to say thank you for the use of your fabulous house! First time in a couple of years we've managed to get the family together for a break away, and was lovely to be able to relax and spread out through the property. There is so much space we never felt on top of each other, but there was also great communal space for meals and movie nights. The log cabin outside bar were well used ...mostly by those that had to unfortunately keep in touch with their businesses, which they could do intermittently in peace and quiet. Two year old grand daughter and two young pups had a whale of a time in the garden, and at the beach which was a couple of minutes easy walk. Pub also within walking distance, and welcome hot tub on return - couldn't really ask for more! Equipment - wise we couldn't fault it, everything (and I mean everything!) has been thought of - we even cooked corn on the cob one mexican themed supper - and yes, there was even corn on the cob forks tucked away in a drawer!! Great range of bedroom accommodation, plentiful hot water, showers effient, plenty of dining space, plenty of seating space. All in all a perfect getaway! Happy to recommend to other branches of the family, and friends - we will definitely be back!
Couldn't fault the property - everything we needed was taken care of. Great location, minutes walk from the beach, and easy drives to all the local attractions and villages/towns
Our favourite part of this holiday was the beach and seeing the seals! It is a very well-equipped house where we made some lovely memories with our 3 grandchildren. It was great to have everyone together for a memorable family holiday. Thank you!
We had so much fun at the beach (beautiful sand and we saw some seals) and also playing in the garden. This is a lovely holiday house - we all enjoyed our stay and hope to come back soon.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay. Definitely not ready to go back home! You have thought of absolutely everything, so many personal touches. 'Old Cottage' is stunning, a truly magnificent place for all 15 of us! The décor is stylish yet homely with the most amazing garden/outdoor area which we made use of every day. BBQ's, badminton, family football and hot tub time! The location is perfect with a short walk to the beach. Thank you for sharing your beautiful house... truly luxurious!"
We've had an excellent stay at your beautiful home, with everything you could want and more. The beach bar was fab and this is where lot's of memories were made! The hot tub was also a hit with our holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed playing & relaxing in it. We have really enjoyed our stay and are very sad to leave.
Great stay in a lovely house and setting. Beautiful beach and two local café's well worth trying!
Very special for us to get together this Summer in such a lovely house and garden in such a great location. We were really able to make ourselves at home and enjoyed trips to the beach as well as visiting the Shire Horse sanctuary, a local National Trust property and a couple of rounds of golf! Our favourite parts of the stay were sports activities in the garden, the hot tub, the bar, building sandcastles and seal spotting on the beach. Made some great family memories.
Great house and garden, with everything catered for, nothing missed. 5 minute walk down a pretty lane to the beach. Quiet location and made a great break for us all.
We weren't familiar with Bacton, but Old Cottage is in a perfect location for exploring the north Norfolk coast. It is beautifully appointed, newly decorated, with the extra garden buildings (accommodation and bar) plus the fantastic hot tub.. and literally minutes walk from the stunning sandy beach. We were able to visit Cromer easily, and headed up to Holcombe/Wells/Holt too. A stunning, relatively undiscovered, area with miles of beaches for families, dogs, swimming, seal watching etc! We will definitely revisit. Thank you to the thoughtful owners for sharing their property and providing the venue for our birthday get-together!
