Wake up to the smell of sea air in this charming hideaway on the Norfolk coast. The property, which sleeps three guests, is in the quaint village of East Runton, and is less than 200 metres from its long, sandy beach. Nearby days out include the National Trust’s Sheringham Park, Blakeney National Nature Reserve, and the vibrant seaside resort of Cromer (all within 12 miles).

The former fisherman’s cottage has a home-away-from-home vibe, with traditional furniture, artwork adorning the walls, and an array of creature comforts. After a coastal walk, unwind in the welcoming lounge, where you’ll find two sumptuous sofas arranged around a TV. The compact kitchen has been carefully designed to include everything needed for a self-catering holiday, and the adjacent dining room offers a comfortable spot for sharing mealtimes. A handy shower room completes the ground floor. Steep, cottage-style stairs lead to the first floor and the two bedrooms, one of which has a 3’ day bed. Both bedrooms share a family bathroom. Outside, the enclosed patio is a real suntrap and has furniture for al fresco dining (please note, neighbouring properties have a right of way across the rear of the cottage).

The village of East Runton has an olde-worlde feel, with independent shops selling local produce, a cute tearoom, and two friendly pubs. Many footpaths and bridleways branch away from the village, and you’ll also be within easy reach of the Norfolk Coast Path. However, the village’s real draw is its unspoilt, sandy beach. Enjoy peaceful walks along the shoreline, admiring the distant views of Cromer’s iconic pier, or join the locals and ride the waves in this surfing hotspot. Heading inland, you’ll soon reach the Georgian market town of Holt (9.5 miles), known for its wonderful collection of independent shops and eateries.

  • Parking for 1 car at front of property, narrow access

Great location ideal for walkers and general relaxation as lovely and quiet. Convenience store and three pubs/bars within 300 metres. Air fryer in kitchen was great accessory and we found it very useful. Overall great cottage in a perfect location though parking can be tricky.

A great location with the beach just a few minutes away. The two local pubs and fish and chip shop were also very close. Lots to see and do in the area and all easily accessible by car or public transport. Be aware though, to access the parking area outside the cottage is a challenge and not for the faint hearted or those with larger vehicles.

Great location. Parking slightly tight, especially if you have a large car. Comfortable, and homely. Stairs could be an issue if you have mobility problems.

Great location for exploring the Norfolk coast. Easy 20 minute walk to Cromer. Sheringham is lovely, with lots of great shops and galleries. Hunstanton was disappointing, apart from Sea Life, which was great. Langham's Glass in Fakenham is worth a visit.

Nice cottage but in need of some tender loving care in the downstairs shower-room and garden in particular. Could do with a lick of paint and the garden needs attention to make full use of it. The village location is lovely, with an excellent restaurant, fish and chip store, and beach on your doorstep. Quick walk or bus into Cromer.

Set in a very nicely characteristic row of fishermen's cottages. Well-equipped and furnished and very close to the beach (sandy, not like Cromer!). A great place as base for visiting the north Norfolk coast.

A surprisingly large cottage on the inside and very handy for the coastal buses - bus stop just around the corner on the main road. 30 mins beach walk gets you to Cromer or West Runton where fossils can be found on the beach. The cottage has everything you might need and the beds were comfortable. Stairs are steep, so not ideal for any elderly visiRead moretors. Hide
