Wake up to the smell of sea air in this charming hideaway on the Norfolk coast. The property, which sleeps three guests, is in the quaint village of East Runton, and is less than 200 metres from its long, sandy beach. Nearby days out include the National Trust’s Sheringham Park, Blakeney National Nature Reserve, and the vibrant seaside resort of Cromer (all within 12 miles).
The former fisherman’s cottage has a home-away-from-home vibe, with traditional furniture, artwork adorning the walls, and an array of creature comforts. After a coastal walk, unwind in the welcoming lounge, where you’ll find two sumptuous sofas arranged around a TV. The compact kitchen has been carefully designed to include everything needed for a self-catering holiday, and the adjacent dining room offers a comfortable spot for sharing mealtimes. A handy shower room completes the ground floor. Steep, cottage-style stairs lead to the first floor and the two bedrooms, one of which has a 3’ day bed. Both bedrooms share a family bathroom. Outside, the enclosed patio is a real suntrap and has furniture for al fresco dining (please note, neighbouring properties have a right of way across the rear of the cottage).
The village of East Runton has an olde-worlde feel, with independent shops selling local produce, a cute tearoom, and two friendly pubs. Many footpaths and bridleways branch away from the village, and you’ll also be within easy reach of the Norfolk Coast Path. However, the village’s real draw is its unspoilt, sandy beach. Enjoy peaceful walks along the shoreline, admiring the distant views of Cromer’s iconic pier, or join the locals and ride the waves in this surfing hotspot. Heading inland, you’ll soon reach the Georgian market town of Holt (9.5 miles), known for its wonderful collection of independent shops and eateries.
