"After visiting many other cottages, this is still our family's favourite - wonderful house in a wonderful location". - Richard Moisey
A delightful thatched cottage set in attractive countryside on the outskirts of Ludham and only 10 miles from Caister by Sea, one of the many pretty seaside villages dotted along the Norfolk Coast AONB. Surrounded by scenic waterways, the rustic cottage offers bright living areas, four spacious bedrooms and a large garden, perfect for families and groups seeking solace in the Broads National Park.
This attractively-furnished two-storey cottage has stayed true to its roots while also catering for the tastes of present-day guests. Wooden ceiling beams and frames, low thresholds and sloping ceilings surrounded warmly coloured soft furnishings, with plenty of light pouring in through large windows and doors. A characterful inglenook fireplace is a focal point of the sitting room on the ground floor, while the nearby snug is always popular with those in need of some quiet time. The kitchen/diner is a welcoming space ideal for lazy breakfasts, with longer, more indulgent meals best served in the dining room opposite. There are two bathrooms on the first floor along with four versatile bedrooms: a family room consisting of a double and a single bed; a double bedroom; and a twin bedroom leading to a second double bedroom with access to the snug via a ship’s ladder. Outside, there are ample opportunities for family games and alfresco dining in the large enclosed lawn garden with a patio area. A handy utility room stands nearby.
Ludham (within 1 mile) is an ideal pitstop for stocking up on supplies or an evening pint. Hire a boat from the village to explore Womack Water and the River Thurne, or set out along the many footpaths that take in marshes, river banks and endless fields. For days at the beach, head to Caister on Sea, Sea Palling or Horsey (10 miles).
