This property, named after a cricketing position as it looks out over the village green and cricket pitch, offers a comfortable cottage base to explore the delights of north Norfolk. Aldborough is a small thriving rural village, with a popular pub ‘The Cricketers’, and a brilliantly stocked shop and Post Office. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with great walking and cycling opportunities. The impressive National Trust properties Blickling Hall (6 miles), Felbrigg Hall (7 miles) and Sheringham Park (7.5 miles) are worth a visit, as well as Wolterton Hall (3 miles) and Mannington Hall (4.5 miles). Just a short drive away are the lovely market towns of Aylsham (4 miles) and Holt (9 miles), and the coastal towns of Cromer (7 miles) and Sheringham (8 miles) with great sandy beaches, seaside attractions and the iconic Cromer crab. Keen golfers have a choice of excellent courses along the coast.
The cottage retains its rural charm, with beautiful Farrow & Ball colours and tasteful simple furnishings throughout. Step in through the front door into the cosy living room where you can relax with soft seating, a well-stocked bookcase and a small Smart TV. There are plentiful games and puzzles for rainy days, as well as a writing desk if needed. From the living room, you walk through the dining area with seating for four, into the bright well equipped kitchen that looks out over the garden. The small, curved staircase takes you up to the two bedrooms and bathroom, but please be aware the staircase is steep with uneven steps and may not be well suited to anyone with mobility issues. The beautiful front bedroom looks out over the village green, and has a king-size bed, an original fireplace and a large cupboard. The smaller bedroom has a double bed and looks out over the back garden. It’s decorated in pretty pink tones and has some reduced head height with a low door and sloped ceiling. The bathroom has a shower over the bath and plenty of shelving to store toiletries.
The cottage is nestled on the north of the green, with parking on the street or the village car park a short walk away. There is a small, enclosed garden to the front with a table and chairs to enjoy morning coffee or watch the cricket, and a larger garden at the back with mature trees and garden furniture to relax in.
