Set in peaceful countryside just outside Holt, this handcrafted shepherd’s hut is a secluded base for couples or solo travellers looking to slow down and reconnect with the natural world. Mornings bring fresh air and views across the lake, with walking routes nearby ready to explore before returning home to your roaring wood burner.

Built in the style of a traditional shepherd’s hut, this wonderful retreat blends rustic charm with carefully considered comforts. Light filters in through the windows, and insulation helps keep the interior warm when temperatures dip. Inside, there’s a double bed, a compact kitchenette, a wood burner and bar seating, along with an en-suite shower and soft lighting that adds to the atmosphere. Logs, firelighters and matches are provided, along with charcoal for the BBQ, making it easy to settle in for evenings around the fire. Outside, deck chairs, hammocks and a fire pit face the lake, creating a lovely setting to sit and take in the surroundings. Parking for one vehicle is available on-site for easy arrival and departure. With no Wi-Fi, no electricity for charging devices, and only limited mobile signal, this off-grid hideaway encourages a full break from routine and time immersed in the Norfolk countryside.

Holt Country Park (1 mile) winds through woodland and open heath, while Holt (2 miles) is known for its Georgian streets, independent shops and welcoming cafes. A short drive leads to the North Norfolk Coast (6 miles), where wide beaches and salt marshes stretch out beneath big skies, including nearby Sheringham and Cley-next-the-Sea (both within 8 miles). At Blakeney Point, boat trips head out to the seal colonies, while the waterways of the Norfolk Broads (20 miles) are also well worth discovering by boat or on foot.

We had a short break in this clean and comfortable property . The hosts provided lovely welcome items which was a nice touch. A lot of thought has gone into providing things to make our stay a home from home. Communication was good too.
