Escape the humdrum of everyday life in this beautiful cottage in the peaceful village of East Ruston. The property sleeps four guests and makes a lovely couples’ retreat or base for a small family. The cottage has a sociable, open-plan layout and a sunny patio overlooking a lake. It’s within easy reach of The Broads, with Stalham just 2 miles away and Wroxham just under 10 miles from the property. You can also enjoy trips to the seaside, with the golden sands of Sea Palling a mere 7 miles from the cottage.

This home-from-home is bright and airy with pretty soft furnishings and homely touches throughout. It has an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with a large wooden table for enjoying family mealtimes together, and comfortable sofas arranged around a Smart TV. In summer, open the patio doors to let a gentle breeze flow through the cottage. Upstairs, you’ll find two inviting bedrooms – a king-size and a twin – along with the family bathroom. Outside, discover a south-facing patio, where you can sip a sundowner whilst admiring the local wildlife.

East Ruston is home to a stunning vicarage garden; with themed garden rooms and an array of exotic plants, this little slice of tranquillity is a must for horticulture enthusiasts or anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle for a couple of hours. The Weavers’ Way walking trail passes through the village, and you can follow it along a disused railway track for 2 miles to Stalham. The town is on the northern edge of The Broads, and is a hive of activity, with eateries, boatyards and a plethora of waterside tracks and trails to explore.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size and 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom with shower over the bath, and WC
  • Electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, and dishwasher
  • Highchair and travel cot available on request

This was our second stay at Skipper and it won't be the last. We'll probably be back next year (2027). From the moment we arrived and unloaded the car, we felt at ease and found everything we needed from essential kitchen appliances, a handy guide with clear instructions and contact details for any questions plus tips for dining out etc, tip top Read morecleanliness throughout the property so we could relax right away and lovely grounds and scenery to explore as soon as we were ready. We didn't make too much use of the TV but it worked well, broadband was fine and even the phone signal through the home seemed to improve since our last visit (in around 2018). Oh, and the unexpected welcome gift (biscuits and such goodies) were quickly spotted and appreciated by our daughter, thank you. Hide

Lovely peaceful setting. Enjoyed the wildlife that surrounds you with the pond just at the end of the garden. Good location for visiting the Broads. In need of a little updating perhaps but would come back again.

A good location for exploring the local area. The pond at the back was wonderful, attracting some fabulous wildlife - gadwall and kingfisher being the most interesting. The sofas and the mattresses were all rather on the soft side, otherwise the cottage was well equipped. Overall we had a great holiday in a lovely part of the world.

Really nice house - clean, well-equipped, comfortable and welcoming. The only downside is that the house becomes very hot in warm weather. If you are planning to travel to Norfolk in the summertime and you are a 'hot' person (and in particular if you are a hot sleeper) this may not be the house for you.
