Treat yourselves to a special stay in this enticing, west Norfolk 280 year-old character cottage. Sleeping six guests, and also welcoming one canine companion, the three-bedroom cottage offers comfortable accommodation with a wealth of character. Set in historic Castle Acre, it makes a perfect base for visiting the priory, which dates back to the 11th century and is one of the largest and best-preserved monastic sites in England, and the walled castle, built in the 12th century by the Normans. Also visit the impressive 12th-century castle at Castle Rising, 14 miles away, and the Sandringham Estate, 14.5 miles from the cottage. Plan trips to the beach as well. Try Brancaster, 20 miles away, for its stretching sands, typical of north Norfolk as well as the lovely Wells Next the Sea and spectacular Holkham.

Open the door to this picture-postcard cottage and head into the welcoming farmhouse-style kitchen/dining-room,  which is equipped with an electric range-style cooker, set into an inglenook fireplace, with microwave and American style fridge/freezer. There is also a dishwasher and washer/dryer and a CD player. The sitting room is cosy with a lovely wood burning stove.  Enjoy the 50” smart TV, Blu-ray player or Play Station.

There are two bedrooms, a double with flat screen TV, and a twin, on the first floor of the cottage. (Note the first flight of stairs is a little steep and curves round a corner but there are very helpful ropes to hold onto and should not be a problem to anyone). There is also a family bathroom, with roll-top bath, shower above the bath as well as a handheld shower attachment, and WC, at this level. Straight up a second flight of stairs to the floor above in the eaves there is the third bedroom made up as a twin with lots of space.

Enjoy the pretty enclosed courtyard garden with BBQ and comfortable seating area as well as table and chairs for dining. There is also storage for bikes and private parking for one car with further parking available close by on the street.

Lovely location, comfortable cotttage. We loved Castle Acre but the fact there is absolutely no privacy in the back courtyard was a big deal for us personally. It has a very strange set up with all the windows belonging to neighbours so no privacy. The cottage itself was lovely though and the many walks from the doorstep outstanding. Good location in a cute little village. Local to other places of interest. Kitchen was well equipped to cook a variety of meals. Very cosy and homely feel. We enjoyed our stay.

This cottage is beautiful and perfect for our family. The castle ruins, the stream and Wittles cafe are a treat and the easy access to places of interest in Norfolk make it a perfect base.

Sometimes, the art of 'being' is often practised poorly. not on this occasion! many many thanks must go to Julie and Ben for creating a haven for this to happen. It was much needed by Sue and I.

What a lovely break we've had with Fe and Nick - and a perfect way for Emily to spend her birthday. Fantastic weather for zooming around the lanes in my car with the roof down - all holding on to our hats. Thank you so much

Castle Acre is such a tranquil place. It is lovely being able to look over at the magnificent church. We had a great day out in Wells Next To The Sea with its dog friendly beaches and cafes. The fish and chips were delicious. We visited Hunstanton which was a nice end to our stay in Norfolk, and we would thoroughly recommend both of the towns. We absolutely love staying at this beautiful cottage, Castle Acre has so much to offer, from exploring the castle ruins, to walks to the stream, past the Abbey and Priory. The Ostrich and Wittles cafe offer superb food. Can't wait to come back

A lovely little cottage in a sweet little village. Came to Norfolk to see if it is a county for us to move to. We did like it very much. Holt in particular. The Ostrich pub did a big plateful of food, and staff were friendly. Well equipped cottage, very clean. Thank you!

Beautiful cottage, ideal location. Could do with a proper clean, as cobwebs everywhere and had to evict 5 spiders before unpacking. Bathroom needs attention, cracked tiles, badly set up shower/bath, and hot water in the cold tap makes brushing teeth unpleasant. These are all small minor issues that didnt affect our holiday, everything needed was prRead moreovided, and was a beautiful warm cottage. Hide
